I was wondering if anyone has ever had any experience with shipping a car accross country.

I bought a car off ebay and would like to set something up so I dont have to go all the way to Cali to pick it up.

How do you know what is a reputable place to have ship it and how should I go about it.

Not sure on the rates cross country but from NY to FL is anywhere from ~$750 and up. Depends on the co. and whether it's an open trailer or an enclosed container.
Check out this website. It has reviews on different co's.

 

I had my car shipped from California to DC Metro area for $850. The trick is finding a reputable transporter. Be prepared to wait far after the promised pick up and drop off times though, since they know how to be on time.

 

Do a search on these boards. This topic comes up about every other month and there have been some good threads with a number of links.

 

I used Dependable Auto Shippers. Cost $900 from FL to MO.

 

you can actually get online quotes...i had mine shipped from LA-FL for about $800 uncovered...covered was about $1100
