Selling my new(ish) for a Mustang for an older model?
So I'm thinking about selling my '15 while it's still worth something and picking up an already built and boosted 11-14 model for mid-$20k range. This way somebody else will have already dumped all their money into it and I just get the toy. Your guys' thoughts? Discuss.

Lol you have issues dude! You have an incredibly awesome car already that you admit takes out almost everything you run on the street. Why get rid of it? Plus it's the perfect color!

The boost would be an upgrade, but you'd be downgrading every other aspect of the car.
You got issues bruh.

What you need to do is wait until there's a '15 Mustang with all the bells and whistles on it, and buy that. Yes, you will lose more money on your current Mustang. But such is life.
2015 looks, feels, and drives better than 2011-14.
And dude... you're complaining about 430hp and 400ftlbs?

I've been bitten by the 2015-16 Mustang bug also. Started at looking at them and the supercharger kits you can buy... wow... so easy to make crazy power...
But then I started thinking "why?"
The drivability will undoubtedly suffer. I think the most entry level kit still bumped you up to 650hp. You then are left with a car that goes fast in a straight line- the new mustang was touted as being a great handler- why would you give that up? While the numbers sound awesome, they don't seem very practical.
Also, your car will now become a pedestrian hunter. at least 650hp... man, that thing will use innocent people as fuel. It will eat them alive. It will beg to mow them down as they stand on the sidewalk. Poor people. Poor innocent children.

Like 6 of my buddies have S197 5.0s, but imo the S550 is a big upgrade in interior, interior quality, exterior, and handling. Power seems like it would be much easier to add on the S550, then to upgrade those earlier things on the S197.

Why not a Q50? They run about the same times.
Thanks everyone for the responses. I figure that since the MMR comes out next year, the time to sell it would be this year. The car puts down somewhere between 430-450whp at the moment but horsepower is a drug - I.e. - you get a little bit and you just want more.
What's tempting me is the fact that I could sell my car and for little to no money on top, I can buy a built S197 5.0 that's already been force-fed and upgraded and have a low 10-second car instantly.
Power has corrupted me. Lol

1) Bolt-on '15 5.0 with some bolt-ons and a tune - 430-450whp.
Or
2) TT 11-14 5.0 for the same price with ~700whp.
I fail to see where you got the more money than common sense notion from when it costs me almost nothing out of pocket for a car with 200whp more than mine.
But I appreciate the compliment in a sense. I do alright at work.

i wouldn't do it but if you feel like you really need that extra 250hp knock yourself out. i just feel like once you start getting in that range of hp its completely pointless unless you track your car. but thats just me.

Im awestruck by cars that can be so civil yet run down and proceed to walk a liter bike. I've driven H/C C6Z's, a couple bolt-on 5th gen Vipers, a roughly 700whp CTS-V and none of them seemed as "tame" when i wasn't pushing the car.
Of course I'd take any of the above over a boosted 5.bro, but I can't simply overlook the bargain for performance a boosted example is.
Of course, there's absolutely no need for this amount of power on the street. My old '12 Civic did the job as a commuter just fine with <2.0L engine. My current set-up is plenty for the street and of course the old saying - "There's always someone faster" rings true.
But everybody has their definition of wants and needs. Hellcat's are decently quick and 707hp is completely unnecessary for daily driving, but I know of 4-5 individuals who DD those cars. It's like buying a watch: there are higher end brands that one could argue there is no need for when the point of a watch is simply to tell time (which a $100 G-Shock does just as a well as a Rolex) but you will always find people paying extra for the more expensive watch that in the end does the same job. (holy run-on sentence)
To each there own, right?

The only older Mustang you should be selling your car for is a Termi or a 1st gen.
Absolutely silly to be selling it for something just 4-5 years old because it's got more mods. Build yours to that level.

Termi's are awesome!

Termis are the only Mustang I'd really like to own. But as you said, it's hard financing them now & they're only going up in value.
Buddy used to have one producing around 550-560whp. That was a really fun car.

Seriously though, I frequent SVTP and EVERYONE says the S550 Mustang is a MUCH better car to S/C than the 11-14. If I were you, just save up. Mustang's are 1/2 the cost of a Vette to S/C, so the loss isn't as bad. Plus, you have the gratification of doing it yourself knowing everything is right.
Oh Sarlacc, yea we all forgot the guys with Challengers/Chargers are savants. LOL

I loved the 11-14 and almost bought one.
Almost.
And what killed it for me, is the 2015+...they just look too good to settle for the older gen look now.
And, if you use that same logic and apply it to "once you have power it's never enough", plus a little Confucius wisdom then you realize that if that's the case, never ending money spending and disappointment are the only end result if you don't decide to be happy with where you're at.
You're married to Kim Kardashian and you're trying to get a divorce from her so you can go date Roseanne Barr just because you heard she gives mad good head. Fk all that...
