Run in w/ a CL55...
Now... I've run in w/ a bunch of Carrera's, Carrera 4's, Vettes (non-z06), CTS-V's, GS450's, etc and have had little or no problem at high highway speeds.... but I almost shat myself when I was trying to catch up to a CL55 today on Rt. 78 in Hillside...
He came up hard behind me in traffic and high beamed me while in the middle lane. He gets an opening and guns it. It takes me a bit to find an opening, but catch up to him in the open... Then he hits it.... 100, 110, 120, 130.... I cannot for the life of me catch up, but I stay on his ass about 2 consistent car lengths behind.... This lasts for maybe 15 seconds and he gets off towards Newark and I keep going my merry way....
I'm happy I can keep up with a $120k car.... but damn, that thing was a rocket... and all he had to do was press the gas ever so slightly while I'm redlining gears.... lol

I did say "on a good day", but you don't get 4mph on a good day.....
your situation is worsening, lol

Do you know if it was the first generation CL55 or second? First generation had an NA V8 rated at like 350hp or something. I think exterior differences are exhaust and tailights. The second generation uses the same V8 motor but supercharged. An M3 should be able to take a first gen but since you say you got beat it was probably the second gen. Results seem reasonable IMO.

^^^ something I briefly thought about too... but I also am quite sure he would have beat first-gen... a good question would be, whether it had the hallmark quad-tailpipes of the 2nd gen...

its was def the newer CL55... i'm pretty up to date on my cars from diff manufacturers.
all the ZCP (competition pkg) m3 had are bigger brakes, shorter steering ratio, and alcantra stuff inside. this should have no bearing on 1/4mi times. suspention and engine are identical.
either way... the amg was faster
