Pennzoil Ultra would be my choice between the two. IMO, it is a more advanced product.

any brands in synthetic oil should do the job. doesn't make much difference anyway.

i always just get pennzoil platinum synthetic every 3k miles and call it a day.

it seems like Oreilly have the buy 1 get 1 qt on this product every 2 months, so i get them pretty cheap.

Pennzoil Plat for me too.

5 qt jug @ Walmart for $22 - $20 rebate = $2 FTW!

I always buy them when they're on sale. Get them pretty much for free.

I used to use Mobil 1 on my 4G TL, but I switched to Pennzoil Ultra.

I like Mobil 1. There are a ton of arguments for and against every type of oil out there. I think you will be fine with Mobil 1 or Pennzoil. How many miles are on your car now? I think if the mileage is higher I would opt to go with Mobil 1 over Pennzoil.

So much debate over all this esp on BITOG Bob is the oil guy forums.

I say get Penz.

I either get Mobil 1 or Penz whichever the oil store has on sale.

I havent tried Pennzoil Ultra. I been using Royal Purple and Mobile 1 fully synthetic. I like Royal Purple over Mobile.
I will give Pennzoil Ultra a try on my next oil change.

I just use Pennzoil Platinum or Ultra in both of our cars, hard to beat for the price.

I use to get Mobil 1 since I got it for free. After a bit of research I stumbled upon RP and have been using it for the past 15k miles. I'd like to think its better because of the price but I go early can't tell the difference.

Remember watching a RP synthetic motor oil comparsion test (don't remember the competitors but also synthetic) and RP dyno'd a few HP higher than the rest.

Probably due to less friction. But I doubt you're going to feel those extra 4 or 5 HP.

Is that 4 or 5 HP gain worth paying 2x or more vs Mobil1, Pennzoil Plat/Ultra, etc.? Not for me.

Yea, I said I don't feel the difference. Since there no longer is a Mobil station in the family I don't have access to free Mobil 1... I usually buy my oils at pepboys and the difference in price between RP/Pennzoil is small; if the difference is 1-1.50 I rather have the 4-5HP than not have it.

OP: Whichever is cheaper. As long as you stay full synthetic and don't mix.
