rockstar143 needed a bigger vehicle...2

Long story short...got a killer deal on an ebay no reserve auction. After our trip to antelope canyon, I was very impressed with how well the Suburbans were taking the abuse of hauling white people to and fro and doing it in the desert heat day in and day out. Always loved this body style and with all of our combined kids, J and I needed another vehicle that was a bit more robust and capable for our camping/outdoorsy needs.

Not sure what car(s) this will replace just yet so I'll likely just insure and tag it for the time being so I have time to decide what to sell off.

Needs driver seat repair and there's some sort of sensor or actuator that I need to mess with that tells the AC to go cool instead of hot...some dings and dents as expected with a vehicle with 184K...from what I gather from friends that have them, they can go a long time with little to not trouble with the transmission and engine...this one is selectable 4x4 with the 5.3L Vortec. Cruises perfectly at around 2k rpm at 80mph...handles pretty well for a 6000 pound tank and feels solid. I predict I will have a good time with this one as I look into eventually doing a mild 3" lift, maybe 6" depending on what size tires I decide I want to go with.

First time I own a full size truck/SUV and it'll be nice to have something everyone fits in, that can go to home depot, that I can loan to family, that can tow shit. Closest thing I came to that was a Nissan Frontier in 2004 and that was tiny, slow and got just as bad gas mileage.

Murrica, fuck yeah.

In all seriousness though nice choice. My parents same body style 2003 tahoe has 232k miles on it. The front differential sometimes doesn't want to engage everyonce and a while and they dumped about 5k into replacing almost all front suspension bushings and engine mounts and fixing some other stuff a few years ago but been bullet proof otherwise. Expect it to go many years.

Be interested to see what you do to lift and what wheels you go with too.

LOL...
the Routan isn't my call entirely...
plus I need to make sure this one isn't a total shitbox before getting rid of the van.
A3 can go, but as much as I'll get shit for it, I'd miss it...I love driving that thing and it's the only car I have that gets over 20mpg.

I was going to say the S2000 has to get the best gas mileage out of all he has. Even if he boosted that thing it would still be tied with the A3.

That's the funny thing about the S2000 ... I beat mine up and it never went under 20mpg.

maybe it's the Florida gas or the fact that my daily commute is on no man's land US27 and I can and kinda have to go 90 to keep with the flow of traffic which keeps me over 4500 rpm...
best I've seen in the S2000 is 21 on a road trip and average is 17ish...V is 14ish...A3 is 22ish...

I don't mind being a square...
My commute isn't short enough to not care about gas mileage anymore...

I was totally kidding about being a square lol, id ride a scooter to work if it would save me money in gas. Would be a pretty miserable ride from October-March in the snow though.

Best mileage and a tow hitch. What more do you need?

This.

If you drive the S2000 like a raped ape, it returns very poor fuel economy (like 14ish) but who cares?

I've gotten ~30mpg doing 75mph for a few hours. It's not great but not horrible for what it is.

Congrats on the new land yacht though! I loved my Denali and still regret selling it to this day. Enjoy driving this living room on wheels, it's definitely an experience!

Congrats! How you keep buying dark coloured cars in Florida is beyond me, but that thing looks clean!

I had a hell of a night in one of these in high school, but that's a story for another time.

I am all ears!
Thanks, Aman...
Well...I don't set out looking for that color, that's for sure.
Although I lucked out...I thought it was gonna be black and it turned out to be charcoal. Gave her a wash today...there are some blemishes and some repairs but overall, she shows well.

Also, ordered some new lower headlights...cheap and holy hell are they easy to get out.

and lastly...Eureka for now...I have followed a forum and cleaned the contacts on this door blend actuator and the AC is no longer switching driver side to HOT 10 seconds after I start it.

Also, confirmed the DVD player and headphones all work. Thank goodness because Zoe saw that screen all tucked away and would not stop asking for a movie on the drive home today.

Why thank you, man...
also ordered some new lower headlight lenses, a passenger window actuator, an oxygen sensor...
I love how cheap parts are for these cars...reverse sticker shock from what I'm used to.
Need a set of matching tires pretty soon too...

The GM actuators suck balls man. I have a Traverse, and have had to replace them before. In addition, if the battery dies, it's a classic GM problem that at least two of the four actuators in GM cars will stop working.
