I really like the the color of the V60... The more I look at it in this pic, it kind of reminds me of the Black Copper color I saw on a TLX once.. I think the Black Copper has a little more brown in it but I think they're similar..

rockstar143 09-18-2018 07:03 AM

yeah, man...
I literally got there expecting black...then during the test drive when we switched drivers I saw the sun off of it and was like

Andrew, damn man...that's hot!
It won't be getting modded...that'll just make her feel like it's my car and not hers :tomato:

now that you have bought this car all i see are older gen V70's everywhere i go... there are two parked at the train station lot when i arrived this morning...

now i'm getting the wagon itch... needs to find another wagon...

00TL-P3.2 09-18-2018 09:34 AM

There's only 38 V60s within 300 miles of Houston & most are base-ish trim cars. Only about 5 lookers & only 1 T6 R-Design (just sub-$50k).
1 is a new old-stock 2016 Platinum for $27k :what:

Only the best for my boo
:O

Yeah, man...I've been looking too...lmao...you know I have a problem...there's a Manual V70 about to end on Ebay...I'll shoot you the link, Andrew

Yeah...and then there are those of us who have had several newer FCA vehicles with little to no issues.

Cars are machines...any one can get one that might have problems.

And some of the complaints...you dont even know if they were user error masked as an manufactures issue, because that NEVER happens...

52k miles and still riding dirty in the Durango.

rockstar143 09-18-2018 11:25 AM

Honestly...the Durango was a solid choice...but I would have had to buy cash and higher mileage, likely...
having the 3 rows would have been great because right now we have to rely on the Yukon for everyone to fit.

Flipster23 09-18-2018 02:47 PM

I still can't believe this guy went from 3 cars. S2k, Vagon and whatever the Cadillac "SUV" was, to a bunch of cars that I don't even want to list because it's too many to list.

brian2 09-18-2018 02:58 PM

who woulda thought a thread about a volvo station wagon would hit 3 pages in a couple days

cu2wagon 09-18-2018 02:59 PM

Well, I mean, it's a wagon. So naturally, everyone wants to jock his nuts about it. It's why we buy wagons.

Of course. And that's great and super awesome. I don't wish anyone to have problematic car issues. And it's not a knock against owners of FCA products and I know you own a Durango SRT and it is a bad ass machine! Each vehicle/model have their ups and downs.

We car lovers don't own cars because they are 100% reliable. And of course there will be FCA products that are trouble free and there are Honda/Lexus lemons out there.

But to be fair, lot of the data/surveys and anecdotes point to less than avg reliability for FCA...again not knocking on you or that it puts lot of SPG on faces. You're one data point among many (again, nothing personal). Just speaking trends/facts. I own a 3G TL base AT....I know this model has a glass 5AT, it's a fact. (even though I personally have 0 issues with my 06 TL 5AT at over 230k miles...)

I'd love to daily a Trackhawk and obviously Hellcats are incredibly awesome machines. Both have my love and affection.

I wish I had a Srt. I have an RT, The srt didnt exist, not that I would have been able to afford it.

But I also had ‘10 Challenger RT and a ‘14 Cherokee limited. I had overall good ownership experiences with those, too, despite hating the transmission in the Cherokee.

Ahh, my bad, thought you had the top dog Duragon, but looks like the SRT was just recently released, good point.

Recently had a JGC as a rental for a while, definitely enjoyed the driving experience and the off-road capabilities.

Yeah, when I got mine the RT was the top. SRT just came out end of last year.

projektvertx 09-18-2018 04:59 PM

And of course you took a pic of the dash at 69MPH :rofl::rofl:

Good buy man!

rockstar143 09-19-2018 06:59 AM

Thanks, bro...I love it.
She loves it, although she's going through a bout of missing her old van. It was paid, her kids and her camped out of it after the divorce etc...I get it. I was originally upset that she wasn't just blindly happy but then I remembered that when I totaled my EP3 and got an RSX-S it took me a few months to really fall in love with it even though it was a substantial upgrade. Something about the old car being gone for a reason you didn't really choose.

Anyway, I drove my bud's JGC SRT in NY last January and boy was it fun...in all honesty, the Brown leather and tech in it absolutely put my Cadillac to shame. The only thing I was better than him at is being faster and even then, with AWD he might have lit me up.
I don't hate any car brand specifically...there's a reasonably cool model for any of them. For my girlfriend...her van was a sore subject because it needed to be reliable and not give her shit and it really was not that the entire time I've been dating her no matter how much preventive maintenance I threw at it. When it got towed to Carmax it had new tires, new shocks all around, new start, new battery, new spark plugs, new injector, new oil and filter, new air filters all around, new valve cover gaskets, new motor mounts. Anyway, I just wanted her in something safe, reasonable on gas and reasonably versatile for her projects around the house and with the kids.

:annoyed: fuck, I just got pissed recalling all the cash I put into that thing. Fuck you VW Routan.

KaMLuNg 09-19-2018 07:56 AM

what ended up killing the van?

rockstar143 09-19-2018 08:03 AM

Ironic but I spoke to the master mech at the place we bought the Volvo and guess what...
He said, yeah, you gotta watch those injectors on those...I'm like yep, I had one go bad that I confirmed with an ohm load read on it...swapped it out...
He said yep but then you might run into them going haywire and running wide open...which will burn hot as fuck and eventually melt your catalytic and
kill your motor. I'm like "no way, you don't say"...:tomato:

I fried the starter trying to get it to turn over...then replaced that and the battery...then the new starter started smoking...in the end, I had unburnt fuel spilling
out of the muffler out back and knew it was not a good sign. LOL...I filled it with gas and told J to meet me at carmax. I made it 20 miles and it finally died
a quarter mile to it.

rockstar143 09-19-2018 08:10 AM

That said...after our last Disney trip...where the transmission started slipping and going into limp mode...I was very uncomfortable with her driving that van around with all the kids. She'd had it turn off on her while driving...maybe the ignition switch...the new shocks I put in, the monroe quick strut...I ordered from a website and when they arrived they said they were a cheaper version of those...well, they had this weird thud in them that was just disconcerting when going over minor bumps...annoying, really. Then I watched a Scotty Kilmer video about how the preload on the springs in those ready to install shock/spring combos was usually wrong and made the vehicle ride even worse.

The motor mounts, I swapped all of them to be thorough, but I used some off brand rockauto specials that were not as good as the OEM. So much so that when I did the front axle had a grinding noise because the sub-par rubber in the side mount was allowing the motor to rock too far back upon acceleration. I had to jam some rubber exhaust hanger pieces into the mount to reinforce it to now allow it to move as much to get it to stop. Fucking shit...

I learned some lessons on that thing but I'm very very relieved she's not driving that thing anymore.

gatrhumpy 09-21-2018 09:15 PM

Nice car my friend!

rockstar143 09-22-2018 09:20 AM

Thank you sir,
filled that bitch up 2 days ago...
dash read 515 to empty.
Made my wiener chub up.

2.0Toy FTW! Though I have yet to break 400 miles/tank in the C. Too much city driving.

  • Steering wheel aluminum trim peeling (cut the guys hand, DIY fixed with a file)
  • Water pump replaced
  • Blower motor replaced
  • Carbon fiber interior trim peeling (fixed by dealer before, now peeling again)
  • 1 Headlight replaced
  • Fuel door replaced
  • Windshield seal/weather-stripping leaking
  • 2 Door lock actuators replaced
  • Brake caliper clear coat peeling
  • Wheel center cap bubbling

Sounds about right. Check out my thread on my Jeep to see the fun I've had so far. We will likely be ditching it next year for a Subie Ascent (current plan, waiting for second model year) or a Range Rover Autobiography (if I win the lottery) so I'm pretty happy about that. Only FCA thing I plan on getting anytime soon is a Wrangler and only because it is so different from any other FCA product out there.

You probably don't, 11mpg city/17 hwy on premium. I'd imagine the speed and power would be fun for a while but would get old quick. The 700hp is a cool party trick but it sucks that it's the only one.

Sam, why would you give up your semi unreliable Jeep, for an even more unreliable Land Rover?

 As much as I adore the G-wagen, they're appalling on fuel (which is why I'm not the target demographic for it).

The president at my last job had a G55, but DD'd her GL450 because the AMG got about 18MPG on the highway.
A quick check of official ratings shows 12/15 & 11/13 for the 2018 G63 & G65 :what:

rockstar143 09-24-2018 11:11 AM

I was thinking the same thing...
funny comment about the 1 party trick...
that sums up the V too, basically.

If I won the lottery I wouldn't GAF. Hence the Subaru being far more likely to happen.

The V has a lot more going for it than just immense power. It's quiet, comfortable, can carry a crap ton of stuff, looks cool, is rare, etc. To the casual observer, the Trackhawk is the same as a Laredo. It can't go off road, mods are nearly impossible because it's already turned up to 11, the interior space isn't as good as competitors, the reliability is probably quite bad, etc... I think it's cool AF that you can stroll into your local dealership and leave with a 700hp SUV but I'm not sure I'd ever actually do it even if I had the means to.

TacoBello 09-24-2018 11:20 AM

99.99% of the population don’t buy SUVs for off-roading... unless you can’t running over the curb in the grocery store parking lot as off roading.

plus, you can still haul stuff in the trackhawk. And tow a trailer, if need be. Or anything else for that matter. It can pretty much do everything the V can.

SamDoe1 09-24-2018 11:32 AM

Yes...but it's a Jeep so off road is in it's blood, or it should be at least. Anyway, I can forsee the V being a lot more desirable than the Trackhawk in the long run because of what it is, a wagon. Everyone and their mother is now making a "sport" SUV with tons of power. No one, other than Mercedes, is making a super wagon anymore.
