rockstar143 divided by 2 - 2009 Honda Shadow Spirit
Sooo...my only experience on less than 4 wheels was on the back of my Mom's ex boyfriend's Yamaha Virago...
I drove an ATC once down the block when I was in high school but the front wheel came up on me and that was that. Then About 15 years ago I rode a Honda 250 ATV and got the hang of it and loved it (graduated to rippin it up on the 450 Raptor)...I knew one day I would have to feel the wind in my hair...maybe because I'm getting older and I figured if it's something I know I want to do and something that won't get any safer as I get older with no experience...plus having a significant other that is supportive in anything I do... I figured why not...pick up a reasonably cheap one to get my feet wet and see where it takes me...well...bought it, burned her leg...took the endorsement class...and have been loving every minute of it ever since. The bike is clean with 13K miles... I knew from the get go I wanted the reliability of a Honda...I almost got killed by a few of the guys in my class when I jokingly compared Honda to Harley...by the end of the class I kept calling it my Honda Davidson :tomato: Anyway...it lived near Melbourne beach by an older guy that sold it to the guy I bought it from...registered, insured, took class and wearing all the proper gear is the only way to go. I know the dangers and nobody wants to be safe and alive more than me... Although it does make me feel nice to know that I'm so loved when I get told I'm a fuckin idiot and what am I thinking by those closest to me  |
Nice Honda S-
|
Nice, I've toyed with the idea for a commuter.
My dad, got a bike a few years ago. He wanted a 'cruiser' style, but didn't want the v-twin. Ended up on a Kawasaki Vulcan S. Cruiser body with sportbike heart (parallel twin engine from the Ninja 650). I know a guy in N Orlando (Apopka) that has 2 BMWs (93 K75S & 80 R65) that I've had my eye on for a few years. Both need work, plus the cost of getting them to TX. The R65 has been in the back of his garage for 20 years & hasn't moved, so the engine is seized. The K75 just needs a go-over & tune up. |
:rip:
|
Nice bike.
In the interest of prudence, perhaps a higher $$ interval on your life insurance is warranted; especially, in the tri-county area? |
I don't intend on commuting in it...
the weather and cell phone bandits are too unpredictable. I just tinker on it and go watch the sunset here and there. |
Congrats!
|
Thanks, brotha...
|
shit two J's... now that's scary :scared:
Don't kill yourself out there |
I wouldn't think of it and yes, my life insurance policies are good to go.
|
Be safe man. I'm still too chicken to give 2 wheels a try.
|
It's a lot of fun, man...and I don't blame you.
Again, there's a reason I didn't opt for a sport bike. Fuck that shit...I love speed way too much. |
Awesome. Congrats! |
Wait until the future Mrs. J wants a Ducati :monocle:
|
I too love speed and even a moped was fun but I can't justify a weekend death machine :snicker: Keep your head on a swivel. Don't end up on the IG page that you should all follow: OnlyinDade

Congrats! I've only ridden a bike once ever. It was nerve-racking and awesome, I want to do it again.
Looks like you might have trouble prying it from Z's hands though - she looks like she owns that ish. |
Sport Bikes are super fun! Twist the throttle and hold on!
These were the 2 that I had a few years back. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...cccc9bb4ca.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...8360fb5699.jpg I have the opportunity to buy back the Blue one. Don't know if I want to though. |
I wanted a mid-00s R6 for the longest time. Smarted up & realized I'm too stupid to ride something that fast
Now, I'm just always on the lookout for a good sport tourer style. |
J, have you given your GF a ride on your crotch rocket yet?
|
Honda bikes are awesome! I used to have a Nighthawk 750. I'll definitely be getting another 2 wheel vehicle in the near future once my finances/life allows for it......
Sure they're called donorcycles, but long as you're not a squid - wear all the gear, ride defensively, take the MSF course, and in general don't be an idiot, you should be good to go.

Now, I'm just always on the lookout for a good sport tourer style. Speed of a sport bike + comfort of a cruiser = win win in my book. Probably gonna look for a VMAX in the next 1-2 years once I move back to the us mainland.... Standard/naked bikes are good too - a buddy is in love with the CB1000R |

I always loved power/muscle cruisers - bikes with very comfortable seating that is pretty much as fast as any liter bike in a straight line: VMAX, Diavel, V-rod, etc. Speed of a sport bike + comfort of a cruiser = win win in my book. Probably gonna look for a VMAX in the next 1-2 years once I move back to the us mainland.... Standard/naked bikes are good too - a buddy is in love with the CB1000R In all seriousness, just be safe and have fun but mostly be safe. I'd love to have a bike but could never get myself to actually do it, I just know too many people who have been in accidents and/or lost someone as a result of them. Sitting inside of a metal box on 4 wheels that still goes fast and makes a lot of noise is more appealing to me. |
Here we go...

These were the 2 that I had a few years back. I have the opportunity to buy back the Blue one. Don't know if I want to though. and there's a big reason why I didn't opt for a big motor or a sport bike...just not a smart idea for a guy that likes to go fast. that said, accelerating even to 60 with the wind in your hair is such a nice feeling.

Standard/naked bikes are good too - a buddy is in love with the CB1000R but I'm not trying to spend that kinda money on a bike. And yeah, gear on for sure...and no, not driving like a fool...I still haven't even commuted to work...I just go around town to visit buddies or watch the sun set. I bought a used Vance & Hines exhaust for it...but the carb is leaning out and bogging with light acceleration so I opted to order the customized instruction and rejet kit from an amazon seller... Sounded fucking hard though... replaced a few corroded badges and polished up the paint... If I pull the tank I might get the fenders and tank painted something custom. Thinking maybe the dodge military green looking color or sunset bronze mica |
Ahhh.... I saw your video the other day.....
|
Tiffany blue would look really nice... Just putting it out there
|
Oh, and #VTwinLyfe or eat balls.

Buddy of mine lost a foot being hit at an intersection when I was in my late teens.
I know too many medical/emergency types who call them "donorcycles" (and have multiple stories to back that up) to ever want to ride a motorcycle. |
Dude, you need to invest in some wide aperture camera lenses. Your photos are getting good but I feel like they'd be even better with a nice creamy background...
|
I have a badass Tokino 11-16 IIRC but I haven't dusted off the D7000 in probably 2 years.
These are all camera photos now :tomato: Thanks though... I agree about minimizing the risk...at intersections I always ASSUME they are going to go for it...and I fucking thumbs up when they don't...like THANKS FOR NOT KILLING ME! Anyway... last part I forgot to mention is I live 2 lights off US27 aka top speed testing grounds aka no intersections and a smooth 40 mile ride up to lake Okeechobee if you felt so inclined... which is normally the road I take since it's stress free. In congestion, a bike is not fun and I have other choices for vehicles so I opt for them. |
Congratulations on your bike. Stay safe out there.
I have always had a bike of some kind. I used to commute everyday for 4 years with a motorcycle (free HOV, no parking problems). Now that I am older, I remember back how dangerous it was and I can't believe I did it. But there is no feeling like it, so that keeps me from getting rid of it. Also, sport bikes are overrated. I rode sport bikes for years. Now I have a cruiser and things are so much better. |

I've already posted this above but....I do love the fact that you can get sportbike-like performance in a cruiser style comfort with bikes like VMAX, Diavel, V-rod, etc. Eye-popping acceleration you can barely handle + minimal body discomfort! |
If I were ever to look for a new bike, it'd be a Suzuki B-King. Nice and upright, naked, but what's that??? It's a Hayabusa? Heckyeah.
Second choice would be a Honda Valkyrie. With some straight pipes it sounds like last year's Toro Roso F1 car. Heckyeah. So, in summary, upright hellraisers are the way to go. |
Another contended could be the BMW K1600B
$$$, though... |
Congrats, J! Welcome to the dark side.
Hopefully this time I've posted in the correct thread. Haha. |
Hey hey boys...
so after some thought, I was ordering jet kits and going to open up the carbs and blah blah blah to accommodate the vance and hines exhaust but in reality I'm not sure it's not too loud for me. and I think I'd be happier throwing the stock exhaust back on and not digging into it any further than I have to. |
Wow adding a jet to a motorcycle.. :what:
