Whats up with RDX owners?

He didn't PD the entire bike He just sprayed the air filter cover. Shouldn't even take half of a can.

Your first mistake was using Plastidip. Your second mistake was using cans.
Use the sprayer - it goes on way smoother.

But the difficult removal may have had something to do with the brake cleaner wipe down surface prep beforehand.

I'm sure DeerMeat did a proper wax job on his surface.
He waxed on and waxed off. For sure.

LOL...yeah, just the cleaner. I used a little of a can although I put enough coats to make it thick enough for easy removal.
I will probably end up painting the bike because previous owner did a less than perfect job...and if I'm doing that I'm going to get
creative. Already ordered a new gauge bezel since mine is peeling...customizing a bike is fun. Although I like that it kind of looks
like an old bike. I think with the black vance and hines the air cleaner looked like too much chrome.

Thanks JB!!!
I can tell you that I'm very into it and look forward to the feeling of riding it every chance I get.
That said, everyone told me I'd outgrow the 750 immediately...but I feel happy on it. It cruises great
at 70 and can push to 100 but isn't comfy at that topped out speed. Which is what a guy like me needs.
I'm looking forward to making it my own, little by little.

Nist, you ain't never lied.
Ironically...the first one to tell me that is my neighbor with the 1200 fury...that has dropped it.
He's cool but...he pretends to know stuff when he doesn't. I took him with me to buy the bike...he's going off
on how great the 2009 is cause it's fuel injected (it's carb'd ) and how it looks like it has a custom suspension
(it doesn't ).

It's a great choice if you want your clit tickled whenever you ride. That's for sure.
#103
if I had a Harley I doubt I'd have any trouble finding people to tickle my clit.
The class I took was sponsored by Harley...aka buy our bike. Lots of die hard Harley guys in there.
I asked this one guy what he rode and he said a Rode King...I was like, is that like a Gold Wing?
He looked like he wanted to punch me. The rest of the class I was like...No biggy, guys...we all have
Honda Davidsons!

yeah don't listen to people who always tell others that they'll outgrow a bike, no matter the cc. Sure maybe a 250cc rebel, but riding is alot more than just going fast on a straight line or getting up to highway speed quick. True skill is in managing street safety AND doing low speed manuvers. You don't need a 2000cc big cruiser to feel like a "man" on a bike - plus less likelihood of dropping it and look like an idiot anyways.
My first bike was a Ninja 250. I was constantly poked fun at by my friends. Thing is... I got good on that bike. Very good... b/c I got comfortable on it. Once I had some seat time and had improved my skills I could keep up with, sometimes beat, larger bikes in the twisties. My friends all got 600s and 1000s and were scared of them. I started on my 250, rode it for a year+, got comfortable on it, and they couldn't keep up. It taught me a lot of things and when I did make mistakes, they weren't amplified like they would have been if "learning" on a higher-powered motorcycle.
When I did finally upgrade I felt soooo much more at ease on the larger bike. I wasn't riding it trying not to make a mistake like many of the people I knew... I was just riding it and enjoying it.

Have seen that many times, the 600 & 1000 crew will leave you in the straights, but a skilled rider can probably keep up on a 250 when it gets technical.

When I took a MSF course few years ago, the instructor was doing a coned-course with super tight turns and 180 turns on an older cruiser bike (think was an old goldwing), he was moving it like it was a little moped....then he told us to look up police motorcycle competitions.....and yeah we had to pick up our jaws off the floor. Some of those guys are super skilled.
Dang it @rockstar143 why you gotta go and buy a bike and now make this thread?!!?!
All this talk is making me wanting to make a financially irresponsible decision to get back on 2-wheels as well. I used to have a Honda Nighthawk 750 few years back....great standard/naked bike

Well that's the thing...a bike seems like it's not a bad financial move. Gets you to work...and doesn't cost a lot, especially used. and a Honda, you kidding me...
you already know what kinda maintenance they require. None!
JB...you sure are correct, man...great sharing that story...It's funny, I'm just now getting comfortable with enjoying riding instead of toiling over what each of my limbs is doing
(vs what it's supposed to be doing)...meaning it's becoming second nature. I can't imagine doing that on a 1000 or more...and I've had a few close calls where I take a turn
a little too ambitiously and because I wasn't able to go SUPER fast to accelerate, I've been able to bring it back and learn the lesson without eating shit.

A CB750 would be a great scoot.
Those police handling competitions are insane.
The new bike market is getting lots of great & interesting models.

Be careful out there. I got stuck in traffic behind a truck t-boning a hog on the highway last night. Literally had just happened as I saw the ambulance roll up and then a thousand cop cars. Then the ambulance got escorted by the cop cars to the nearest trauma center. By the time I rolled up the bike was leaning perpendicularly on a big pickup truck. No fatalities on the scene as then I'd probably still be on the highway.

Sounded like a spaceship.
Personally, if I were ever to go "big bike", it'd either be a B-King or a Valkyrie. But the Rune version is just too out there.

Damn brother...
yeah, when I park, I always leave it in 1st and watch my mirrors until someone is stopped behind me.
That's scary as fuck. I had a moment yesterday where someone was making a right and there was a car
coming out of a parking lot waiting to turn left (perpendicular to me) and because the sun was in my eyes
and position of the car turning I didn't see them which means they couldn't see me. Nothing happened...
but I did make a mental note that that would have been a bad scenario and to pay more attention to stuff
like that.
I also watch a ton of youtube videos on what to look out for, best gear, best practices etc.
Watched the sunset yesterday and it was divine.
