This is one great reason I will be carrying a gun when I turn 21.
What a fucking psycho.

Man....
I was pulling into my neighborhood on Monday and some asshat comes flying up behind me and tailgates me through some of the streets. I pulled over to let him by and he pulled up next to me and yells, "cut me off in that car again and fucking I'll kill you." I should have reported it, but I don't even know where I cut him off.
Scary stuff. I don't know about a gun, but I've got pepper spray on the way with a 20ft reach. Bought a can for me and my wife.

They said at the very end of the video the lunatic called in to the police station and will surrender himself the next morning.
But, I still agree they should be able to look up his plate and figure out who it is.

I say this as someone who is a concealed weapons holder - I don't think that's a situation where a gun would have helped. I'm afraid the presence of a gun would have escalated the situation to a tragic end.

The guy who was attacked said he felt like the man was trying to kill him. Sounds like a self defense situation if you ask me.

If he had managed to get access to the cabin of the vehicle, perhaps. Otherwise, he did the right thing in getting on the phone with the police and trying to get to a police station.

damn crazy.
I had something similar to this, but not nearly as bad. Was driving through the college campus to get to my friends place to teepee his house at like 2-3am with a couple of my roommates. And randomly a car comes nowhere and starts tailgating. He stays on my ass for a bit and then lets off and when we get to neighborhood areas after making a few turns, I had a feeling he was following me. So then I randomly made turns and he did the same. He then started trying to pull up next to us but didnt show us rage visually. So being riverside I thought there's a chance he can pull out a gun, so I started avoiding him pulling up next to me and I tried getting away from him. At this time one of my roommates was on the phone with 911 telling them what was happening.
I'd start flying like 70mph on these local streets. They were basically empty. And he'd follow me. I'd take a big lead on him but then I'd also approach red lights, where I'd just usually make right turns. And whenever we approached a red light and he was right behind me, he would pull up to my side and I'd go hard on the brakes and flip a u-turn in the middle of the street. Lot of this continued for 30 min or so and then he finally just left and at that point a police officer just came. Apparently the license plate number we read was wrong too so that didn't help at all. Kinda scary moment though.

If a guy jumps on a window and punches it and you shoot him at that point. You will probably lose the case. At least in california I bet.

Exactly. As a CCL holder, you shoot only when you are in imminent danger and if it's absolutely necessary. And if you do so, you better make sure they're not going to be talking after. Just saying.

Initially, you care about your car and not sustaining damage. But with this guy in a truck that was already getting pounded, he's lucky the video driver didn't just say fk it and ram him back one of the times he turned the driver side of the truck in front of him, or run him over as he ran over to punch the windshield...I think that would have been my first reaction once I realized the guy was out of his mind.
Bad fkn news man...wow.

That's some scary stuff right there.
1.) Either that guys windshield was made of fine china
or
2.) That guy has one hell of a punch to shatter a piece of tempered windshield glass
Also, lets not think that all of us are innocent when incidents on the street escalate. I've done my fair share of brake checking on people riding my ass for no reason. If it escalated, I'd take responsibility for not being mature enough to not brake check the person in the first place.
This guy with the dash cam obviously brake checked this guy, I think he even says that to the 000 operator when going through the roundabout. Now that is NO excuse for the guy to go crazy like he did.

It's not that hard to break a windshield with a punch from ones fist, so I've heard, definitely not from personal experience.

^^ It would be akin to "If a tree falls in the forest and there is nobody around does it make a sound?"
No dash cam? No Road Rage?
