It's called the unspoken luv between car & driver... There's nothing quite like it (actually enjoying your vehicle every time you drive) having a reason to drive or not. I feel ya on that

I used to feel that way about my 97 3.0 CL, but then I got a new car and realized what else is out there. The 1st gen CLs are great cars once you get past the transmissions, especially the whole interior comfort thing, but from a performance perspective they're not really anything special.

As for driving in general, yeah, I love just heading out and driving nowhere at all.

 

I never had a problem with my 98 CL Tranny (at least not for the 75k miles I owned it for).... in fact, I don't recall many people at all having problems with the tranny in the 1st Gen.

Now... the 2nd Gen... that's a whole new ballgame....

1st gen 3.0 no tranny probs mines on its way out

 

My third was crapping out when I dumped it 2 weeks ago w/130k miles on it. I didn't race it and didn't have a single performance mod on it.

 

if i just drove around like i had nowhere to go, i'd be like 90% of the drivers out here. pensacola is infested with blue hairs and snow birds...nonetheless, at one point when i was more attached to the car (and alone) i would go on little cruises around town

 

Yeah, I used to like my CL a lot. Then, I started to loath it...more because of LA, and how hard it to keep a car nice. It made me resent my CL and eventually sell it.

So, I bought an older SUV outright (need the utility anyway) and I love it, and the fact that anything can happen to it and I just won't care.

 

Wow. Well, I only had the car for 2.5 years or so... but I didn't see anything in the CL section (at the time) about problems. Guess that was b/c I was hanging out in other sections getting ready for the new car (again, at the time)

 

I used to do that all the time in my CL, I don't do it too much in the TL though, I guess since my CL was 5 spd
