replace rotors after only one year?

Acura CSX 2006. Two and a half years ago, I had the rear brakes and pads replaced. A month later, I hit a pothole hard on the right side in Boston. There was a periodic thumping/grinding noise when brakes were applied at speeds of around 5 - 30 mph. I took the car to the mechanic but they found nothing wrong. Drove the car across Canada to our new home in BC. Mechanic in Victoria said that the rear calipers needed to be replaced. Replaced rear calipers. Problem came back. Replaced rear rotors a month ago. Problem of sound in rear brakes went away.

But now there's a new problem. A year ago, my dad borrowed the car and replaced the front brake pads and rotors by accident (miscommunication). Now, there is the same periodic thumping/grinding noise from the front brakes, mainly the right side. I had two shops look at the problem but they couldn't see any problems. I'm bringing the car into a shop this morning, and during initial discussion, mechanic suggested replacing the front rotors again.

Question: Why do I have these recurrent problems with the rotors? Is there any deeper type of issue (with axle, etc.) that could cause the rotors to quickly get warped? Are there any such known issues with the Acura CSX or related cars? The front rotors shouldn't need to be replaced after just one year (<10,000 miles in one year), right?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

How's the braking itself? Brakes straight and confidently?

Were the rotors put on right and balanced? That's happened to me: the rotors were not seated flush all the way, hence the thumping sound. Check those rotors.

The braking is fine, straight. Just the pulsating noise.

That's a good suggestion, Gatrhumpy, thanks. I'll check that out.
