The Rebirth - CCColtsicehockey TSX Thread

Null and proud of it
That never even crossed my mind. Wonder what the best way to approach that is. Maybe a can of Rustoleum and a foam brush?
One thing I am worried about is water/moisture getting into the trunk through those two holes that are now cut outside of the rubber trunk seal area. Not sure the best way to seal those against that. The only thing so far I can think of is maybe some dynomat like material full put over the hole.

About tge leaking, can you put a thin rubber washer in there? Or would that raise the spoiler above it's mounting braket and look stupid?

Looks good, though the wing angle seems a bit on the extreme side? Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

rustoleum or whatever paint of choice... rattle can is fine, spray it into the cap of the rattle can, then use a small brush and dab it on... few layers should be fine just so the the fresh metal isn't exposed.... then use a small rubber grommet like when running car audio wires for the top of the trunk where the spoiler attaches... for the bottom you can get a plug...

Everyone definitely entitled to their own opinion and to be honest I am really surprised it took this long to get someone that wasn't a fan of it. I was thinking that would be most of what I would get.

Nice to see you take it with stride!
I know your TSX is mainly a tuner car. It's nice to see someone build a TSX the right way and take their time.
What happened to the green wheels?

Yeah there are some really clean TSX builds out there. There are also a lot of newer builds out there just about crazy stance and that just isn't my thing and to each their own.
The green wheels are still around as are pretty much every set of wheels I have ever had. They are all just sitting on my wheel storage rack. Have only got rid of two sets of wheels from the TSX. One set I never liked on it from the start and the other I traded for some parts to further my build. Those parts still are not on the car though. Don't know when I will get around to finishing that part of the project.

So I had wrapped the trunk in red camo because it had all sorts of scratches on it I didn't want to deal with. Being my first time doing vinyl wrapping it didn't come out perfect. I also ended up not digging it as much as I thought. It was a test to see if I would carry it to other parts of the car. Long term it is still in the plans as I want to carry the red/white of the wheels into an accent theme on the rest of the car.
So to get the car ready for a friend's show it meant it was time to try and get as many of the scratches I could out of the trunk. First time I was wet sanding. Thank to @rockstar143 and @KaMLuNg for assuring me I couldn't really fuck this up.
Picked some wet sanding paper
The shop that removed my Spoon spoiler from this trunk must have used a nylon pry bar or something
Time to get going
Round 1
Final compounding and polish. The compound wouldn't get out all the sanding scratches out the first time so I went back over it and this time in addition to the 2000 grit also did 3000 before compounding.
Only 2-3 worst marks still remained and you really have to look for them to even spot them. Otherwise, it looks like glass.
I also sanded down the mounting brackets from some of the surface rust that had built up from the previous owner and gave them several coats of satin black Rustoleum.
It was super dark out when I finally finished all of this
First thing next morning (I left the H badge off and put a custom decal a friend made as a tribute to a great friend and huge innovator in the car schene that passed away last month)
The TSX and NSX together before rolling out to my buddies show Tuner Evolution Charlotte. Enzo photo bombing.
At the show
Just like this shot for some reason

I used the tried and true McGuirea M105 and M205. I then followed it up with my Griotes Garage Machine Polish 3.

I would probably feel a bit more comfortable wetsanding a spare trunk.
Looking good! It's nice seeing a car that you've had for such a long time continue to get love.
Also, holy tires Batman! How did you rack up so many sets?

Love that you tackled that and made it turn out so great.
How deep were the scratches? Could you feel them with your fingernail?
I want to wet sand a couple spots on the wife's truck, just unsure of the process....
could you please do a quick write up of the process for the wet sanding?
Also, how much pressure would you say you used during the sanding process?
Thanks a bunch for any help!
Im going to try and tackle it this weekend and ceramic coat the car!

Google, mother fucker!
Honestly, if it's not a shitty respray or obviously fading/failing clear you're pretty good with 2K wetsanding
followed by 105 on orange and 205 on white and then a final protectant. I use Klasse all in one now on orange
as a lazy man's one stop shop to remove defects and that works decently. the K.I.S.S. frame of mind works best
when it comes to detailing...less is more.
Jason, you did great, man...knowing that your failsafe was a respray helps in having some nuts but you really did
it perfectly. I'm always a little worried about removing ANY clear on my cars.
Great job, and I love Enzo! What a beauty.

I rather have information from a first hand source, rather than reading endless posts online (which I also have done lol)
im planning on following up the sanding with a griots garage complete compound on orange pad, then perfecting cream on a black pad, topped with ceramic

I had several that you could just barely catch with your fingernail. They were deep enough to do that but all still in the clear coat.
I watched this YouTube video before tackling it.
Honestly, it ended up really not being that hard. Once you get over the fear of taking sandpaper to your cars paint using 2000 and 3000 grit you really can't screw it up. You will see in the video but you really don't apply hardly any force at all. I do recommend getting some 3000 as well to go over the 2000 with just to help reduce the amount of compounding you need to do.

Yeah, I need to figure that out. Don't know if the carbon hood just doesn't sit level or what. The stopper is set to get the hood level with the fender. So maybe the fender is off or the bumper is off a little. Definitely bugs me.

Thank you. I don't think I will ever be able to part with that car with how much work I have put into it.
All pretty much all of those tires except like 4 have wheels in them actually. I am a wheel whore with the TSX. I have 6 sets that fit it.

I'd keep the car for the rest of my life if I were you!
Great TSX! You take such great care of it!
Didn't you do a 6 speed swap in it years ago?
6 sets of wheels? Last pic I saw, they were green, or pink...

Yes I did a 6speed swap after I hit a dear in the car. Shit I think that was like 8 or 9 years ago now.
White, pink, green, grey, gold, and the factory wheels. I did trade a set of my wheels away for some seats so at one point I had 7
