Razor Blade Car Protection

Was talking to some guys about thieves and cars and what not, came across the idea that some guys are strategically installing razor blades on parts of their cars that thieves generally target, so they get a nice little surprise when they go to rip of the part. Has anyone heard of this? Has anyone done this? Does it work? Also, where and how do you recommend installing the blades?

Thanks in advance,
LnS

achenator 03-08-2012 11:44 AM

I'd rather have my radio stolen than a stranger's blood all in my car.

myron 03-08-2012 11:47 AM

HAHAHAHA this just made my day. Where and how would you install razor blades PLEASE enlighten us

JS + XES 03-08-2012 11:51 AM

That's right. Low AND Slow. Yes. I like that.

JS + XES 03-08-2012 11:51 AM

some guys at school were saying they put them on this inside of their lip kits, around the roof lips, fender liners, edges of the front lip, pretty much anywhere a thief would have to grab and pull to get a part off your car quick, and out of sight. not sure how they mounted them, trying to figure that out right now

Low 'N Slow 03-08-2012 11:54 AM

just trying to put them on the outside of the car, already have had two sets of lips stolen. you guys ever have shit jacked off your car?

Seriously though... wouldn't it be much easier (and make more sense) to just get an alarm with an adjustable shock sensor?

JS + XES 03-08-2012 11:59 AM

Let say I'm a thief. I try to take off your lip kit and get hurt by those little razor blades.

I would put a hole in all 4 tires and put a hammer mark on every body panel as well as windows JUST BECAUSE you try to mess with me. :O

or just move out of your parent's house and sleep in your car all the time.

SharksBreath 03-08-2012 12:02 PM

this is crazy.

i'd hate to forget where i mounted the razor blades and slice my finger off doing maintenance.

ive weighed that option, couple things that have steered me away. 1. im a college student on budget, a GOOD system with that option would be upwards of 300-400, i just dont have that kinda money to drop 2. in my neighborhood, there's alarms going off all the time, an alarm wont deter someone who runs up to my car, rips off the lips, and runs away. and 3. I dont want more fobs on my keyring. could i mod a OEM fob to work with an aftermarket system?

so you're saying you'd just let someone steal your shit?

i dont care what you think of what i do to my car, im gonna protect my shit. if a theif does that to my car, its covered under insurance, stealing my aftermarket lips isnt covered.

if you'd like to answer one of my questions or be even remotely helpful, then i really appreciate it, if not get the fuck out

never thought about that. so how the fuck m i supposed to protect my shit?

TylerT 03-08-2012 12:15 PM

I agree with Shoofin', that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Save up and get an alarm system and park your car close to your window, have an eye out with a baseball bat ready .. not really much more you can do?.

Or worst you have your car in for service and someone else gets hurt not knowing there are razor blades that are now all rusted cuts them. Not a good idea at all.

Are you not bolting your lip kit on or something? They shouldn't come off that easy. If you are and they are taking the screws out then maybe try using security bit screws instead.

However using razor blades are you serious? :what: Stop trolling please.

doopstr 03-08-2012 12:32 PM

Great, another reason not to buy a used car, getting sliced when you wash it the first time.

I've heard that dog shit packed under the door handles also works well.

Moog-Type-S 03-08-2012 12:53 PM

I heard packing an IED in the dash behind the radio, with a trip wire on the volume knob works wonders!!!!!

myron 03-08-2012 01:07 PM

responses are gold.

OP, I like your idea and I'ma let you finish, but a proper car alarm is more efficient

Stapler 03-08-2012 01:11 PM

I cut myself enough when doing normal car repair. I don't need to up the difficulty.

rockstar143 03-08-2012 01:12 PM

I did this...ended up regretting it though the last time I had to take my front bumper off because I forgot about the blades. Wiping my azz these days has proven quite challenging.

JS + XES 03-08-2012 01:19 PM

OP, just put a huge ass sticker on your hood and trunk.

YOU ARE BEING FILMED RIGHT NOW BITCHES

Will Y. 03-08-2012 01:32 PM
