Raced a Turbo Cayanne

Was going to my friend's weekly poker game, and he was pacing me. We hit a stop sign together, and I roll into it thinking he was going to do something, he nudges ahead of me, and then we both floor it at the same time. He was about a fender ahead, and I pulled about even with him till we let out around 80 or so.

Anyone know what these tanks actually run? I know they have some pretty good times. I am not sure this one was stock, it had dealer plates, but the badges were removed, and it sounded like it had exhaust, cause I could hear it over my car.

PS, I was in a 98 XJ-R that has run 13.5 @ 106 in the heat when it was brand new. I think it'll turn a 13.2-.3 @ 108+ or so now. Wasn't in my TL.

In stock form, the Cayenne Turbo runs 5.0 0-60, 12.6 0-100, and 13.5@103.3 1/4.

In other words, it's fast as hell. They're also going to be faster on the 2006 models.

Sounds about right, that is why we were pretty darn close... Also explains why I was starting to pull on him if it only traps 103.

Thanks for the heads up.

Their stock exhaust is pretty loud, so I'm sure it probably was stock...Those things sound pretty mean

Raced one this summer on the highway... This things are quite fast between 60 and 120mph... He saw my tail lights but I was impressed how quick he was considering the size and weight of this truck...

The XK is only about 100-150 lbs lighter, it would have helped a little...

Have two Stangs, a 928, and a Vette here that would have been a zip code ahead, don't need an XK...

The numbers don't do justice on the Cayenne TT....It feels so much faster than it is. The needle swings around the tach so quickly, you're already way past the speed limit in the blink of an eye...

oh boy...

S/C 408 Mustang... heres a link of what it used to have... has long tubes and a larger blower now. Gunning for around 850 RW, it made 719 when I sold the other blower. http://www.mustangweekly.com/2002/february/86/86_1.asp

Other stang, same blower on a 351 stroker... (4.145 bore x 3.25 stroke) Not to be confused with a standard 351 windsor. Should make around 700 RW with a conservative tune.

87 928S4 with exhaust, rear muffler delete, chips, german spec gears. Has gone 13.5 @ 102, but its slow to 100, I have had it to 198 mph... It's more of a freeway car.

C6 is stock, ran a 12.5 @ 111 in April, I have posted pics of it up before...

satisfied now? no I am not an internet fanstasy dude. The Vette and the 351 Stang are my dad's, just to clarify the matter, but I can and do race both of them, often.

That must some wild 87' to have such long legs... I didn't think the current 911 TT had such capability

What 911 TT? It isn't too wild, fairly stock, but it runs like a biotch. The speedo is dead accurate from those things that measure on the side of the road, and the speed was calculated from engine rpm, tire diameter, and rear gear ratio/tranny ratio. The speedometer only goes to 190, but it was about 200 or so reading where 200 would be spaced out on it.

I again don't know what you mean about current 911TT had such capability. I didn't race a 911TT, it was a Cayenne TT, and no it won't go even close to 200. Which is why I said on the freeway, I would be in a different county if one tried to race my 928, Stang, or the Corvette or dad's Stang... all much faster. The Jag and the Cayenne were VERY evenly matched though, fun times.

Sorry for the confusion, you misunderstood my previous post. I didn't think that any 996 Twin Turbo could reach 198 mph and therefore I was skeptical that your 1987 928 would hit that mark but if the speed was calculated accurately then

Oh I gotcha now man, my bad... yea, I was skeptical about it as well, but hit 190 on the speedo into a serious head wind a few days later. The windshield wipers were floating above the damn windshield about 2 inches, it was crazy looking.

The car was rated to 171 or so from the factory, but that was with the lame ass American spec gears. The gears were so tall the car couldn't get on the cams in top gear. With the german spec gears, (2.64 vs. 2.2) the car redlines top gear, and with the sport chips in it, the rev limiter is raised to 7,200, and the car damn near hit the limiter in fifth gear @ 6,900... It actually was NOT topped out, the car was still lightly surging, but there was a few cars about a mile up ahead, and they were getting way too close too fast. I think with a light tail wind 2-5 mph, and no hills it would see 200. I need to do a few tune up tweaks to it, and there is an X pipe that is supposed to bump it about 40 hp (dyno proven), so maybe one day I'll run it hard again for fun, but I usually don't go over 140 in it anymore.
