Im trying to buy an 04 Tl in the next 7-12 months. Right now I have a 2002 Ford Explorer its a ticking time bomb. This is going to be my 2nd year owning it. It has been nothing but problems since i bought it but luckily it had a great warranty. Well the big problem is my warranty is over at 84,000 miles and currently im at 78,000 miles. Right now I have intermittent problems with the engine and trans. Ive already spent 200 trying to get the dealer to diagnose the prob. But they dont see anything. I can tell something big and expensive is about to go wrong with the engine. So its time to unload the car as soon as possible while its running. Luckily its value is about how much i owe Well big problem is im 19 and dont very much credit. The car is completely in my dads name i just make loan and insurance payments. Im getting the car moved into my name later this month to get my credit established. Hes moving out of state so he's definately not financing a new car.

So my question is.. how long do you think i'll need to keep making payments on this pos to get a fairly good credit score. I pay 283 monthly. Im 19 yrs old and in college. I have one credit card. That i put all my gas on and pay off at the end of the month. Had that for almost a year. I have 5,000 in savings and im going to put 3grand of that down and leave the rest as cushion for payments and random financial suprises.

Im pretty sure i can afford the car if anybody was wondering. I make about 1500 a month. I will have no bills accept for the loan and insurance so i'll be fine. Im looking at financing for 21000 + 3g down that puts me at an affordable 330 monthly.
