Question about TRD supercharger
I know this isn't Scion forum but I know a lot of you guys and trust you know this answer anyways. Ok my boss has a 2008 TC for sale with a TRD Supercharger he bought and installed, the thing is he doesn't have an intercooler, does it matter? I'm worried about over heating in the summer. I'm really considering buying his car if he would let me pay it off, he probably will but I still want to know if I should make him knoock the price off enough for an intercooler.
Mods on car (only has 25k on it) This car is equipt with TRD SUPERCHARGER, 5 Speed Manual Trans, TRD steering wheel, TRD exhaust, TRD 18 inch wheels, TRD struts and springs, TRD Wing, TRD tail lights, TRD Shifter, TRD Navigation, TRD pillars C/F, TRD neons (interior) custom HID kit, DC Sport header, Agency Power crankshaft pulley

You'll be fine. Most roots style blowers don't require intercooling. If the blower were part of the intake manifold, then i would say intercooling will help with efficiency, as roots blowers run hot. But the only reason you'd need an intercooler w/ heat exchanger is if you are planning to make a lot of boost.

That supercharger was designed for the TC by Toyota, so it is good to go. Those things are pretty quick when driven right. I say go for it with that low mileage on it. Post pix when you buy it!!!

Man that thing sounds awesome, I'd love to have a 2nd Gen XB kitted out like that.

As others have mentioned, you should be fine. Some efficiency may be lost, but being a factory designed piece it should be within Toyota's tolerances.

The supercharger a lone adds 40hp not wheel hp, not to much at all. But with the headers, exhaust, pulley I'm thinking if it were to get dynoed it'd have to make somewhere around 250WHP if not more.
Here is a pic of it, crappy quality of his camera phone doesn't do it justice.

250 whp sounds like a lot man. Thats close to 290 crank horses. i find it hard to believe that a bolt on and pullied trd blower would hit that high a number. if you plan on making that much power off bolt ons and boost, then, you will indeed need an intercooler with heat exchanger. trd blowers on the scion are about 200 crank horses, i say with full bolt -ons and a higher boost pulley + a spot on tune, you'd hit the 200-215 whp mark. be careful with that boost, don't go adding pulleys without tuning and cooling the car properly.

Yeah, it's more like 210-220 at most.
I thought these were doggy slow even with TRD supercharger. maybe i was wrong?

Whoa? So with exhaust, dc sport headers, pulley, s/c your only looking at 215 at best=\? FOO! Lol, idk can't really judge it yet in till it's been on a dyno, I've never even seen it drive or been in it while someone was driving. He just recently put it up for sale so I was just guessing, I clearly failed lol. This car might still be a no go, as I found a 2003 RSX-S which is a lot more in my price range.

Only have $4,000.00 down payment haha, I actually have a current pending buy on that RSX this Thursday im going to sign the title and agreement. its an 03 RSX Type S silver with black leather, 82k miles. paying 4k down payment and then paying the rest off in increments of $300.00 a month. Total for it is $6,500.00 decent deal.

You'll be much better off with the RSX-S. I didn't know there was another car in the equation. Good luck with it and post pix as soon as you get it.

My boss makes great money too, not 6 but close. He owns a carpet steaming business, he's only 24 i think and has a kid, payed off house, Chevy Tahoe, 2007 Mercedes C280, 2 Scion(1 is crap) and recently sold his heavy modded Mini Cooper S. He also bought 2 Nissan Cubes for work. I'm NOT trying to show him off, just saying I couldn't hate the guy more because he treats me and my co workers like shit, but he pays us enough to stay lol.
But yeah I'm actually concerned about wrecking it, not that I'll be speeding but that it'll be my second time ever driving stick. First time was in my brother Zo6 which I stalled it twice, but did drive it all the way to the gas station so whatever, I'm sure after a few hours and getting a feel for the clutch then I should be driving fine. Can't wait for tomorrow woooot, I'll post pics right away .

Not to be rude but my reccomendation to all novice drivers is to learn how to drive competently on an automatic and then on a manual. I can't imagine what horror would have ensued if I hadn't driven for a few years before purchasing the Si.

Agreed. Plus I already drove 2 winters, so my driving is plenty good enough to start learning to shift for myself. Anyways I purchased the RSX!!! woot lol, I only have one pic of the Type-S badge which my friend requested I texted him. Tomorrow I'll clean the stupid snow off and take some pics and post her up.
