Quanaman's Accord Love Thread (Accord starts on Pg 18)

You're telling me bro. I can't help but love the 3G. The timeless design just reminds me of the Legend, everyone in the 90's loved it until acura fucked u and changed the name. How do you like the new Accord? I love those 19" 5 spoke sport wheels
here's another shot of the Type-S crew on the way back

LOL...I think Q and I are probably in the same boat here, but this will likely not be a car I'll sell very easily. If it is hard for me to part ways with my NBP base, how hard will it be to part with this one once I get it all set up the way I want it?

nice pickup, loved what you did to the black one, where are you getting your a spec kit from? I really need to get one for mine but everywhere has outrageous shipping charges
#369
Haha, Gonna have to go with J on this one, its gonna be hard letting this one go.
Thanks man! I usually get mine from the dealer, but they give me a 20% discount. If you haven't already I'd check with ACKTL05, he can probably get you a decent deal. You can also try asking your local dealer to price match to online dealers like AcuraOEMparts.com, thats roughly 20-25% off list price too.

Well...when lightning strikes the same spot repeatedly, you don't have to be Nostradamus, amirite?!?!
For sure, man...I'll lose a couple...I'm going to swap over to high flow cats as my PCD has a crack (2nd time around according to JJH) and I'd like to tone the rasp down a bit.

Got some major maintenance stuff done this weekend!
Originally wanted to do my timing belt and water pump, thermostat, front, rear, and side motor mounts, and compliance bushings.
I had a friend of a friend do the job, Honda Master tech. It just so happened that when I got there, he was finishing up the same timing belt and water pump job as well as the dreaded oil pump reseal process on another TL-S, with 106k miles.
Once we tore into my car, took a look at the mounts and the rest of the rubber we realized it wasn't in bad shape at all. he said the other TL-S in the shop was much worse, and my car looked to be in way better shape. My side engine mount was just barely starting to tear, so he said to replace that and that the rest don't need replacement. Also, my compliance bushings were in great shape, so no need to do that either. Lucky me!
So all we did was the water pump and pulleys, timing belt, thermostat and a full coolant flush in about 3 hours. I got to watch every step of the process which was awesome, I'd never seen a TB job done before. He threw in a free oil change, AND I scored a deal on an RV6 V3 Jpipe, so I got that waiting to go on also!
Heres are some pics for you guys:
I got there and parked next to this beast;
Just getting started. Peep the silver TL-S. It was still sitting as the Honda bond was still curing between the engine and oil pump.
Covers off
Water pump out, even my coolant is KBP
Finishing up!

Ordered a couple small things this week for the car, CT short shifter (must have) and some floor mats. nothing too exciting.
I have some home projects I'm working on at my parents place for a little bit, so the car isnt the highest priority. She'll be in for a bumper repaint and aspec soon though!
Thanks! Hoenstly this build probably wont be a whole lot different from my other ones, but I'm excited for a couple different things that I'll be doing!
And a master tech at that!!!
Haha I know right!? we need to start a KBP club for real and have a photoshoot someday!
Thankfully yes! What I'm happiest about is being able to watch the whole process, and saving a little bit of money in the process

Let me know how the short shifter install goes. I've always wanted it but having to remove the lower dash, center console, etc seems like a hassle.

it's very worth it!!
it's really not that bad of an install unless you run into a bracket that's tack welded in place and you have to do the entire install while it's in place in your car (and not out on a work bench like it's supposed to) haha

I've installed it on 2 of my own TLs, 1 friends TL, and on a 6MT tsx (same install basically)
Its not too difficult at all. I remove the cupholder, shifter and cubby pockets below the radio, and thats it. Then you unbolt the shifter assembly and there is enough room to get it out. The rest can be done on a work bench for the most part!
I'll take plenty of pics this time although Im sure there is a DIY floating around somewhere. Might do my trans fluid today if I can get home soon enough

Well, at this point I may as well just quote my old postings
Got this little project done last night in about 30 minutes. Very quick, easy, and satisfying. Actuators are smooth as fuck now. New pics at the end
While I was there I picked up a pair of new actuators for my side mirrors. Both were clicking horribly and one seemed to have a mind of its own so i decided to swap them out. I really love the feature of the side mirror tilting down when you put the car in reverse but wasn't able to use it because of the damn clicking. I've heard you can lube them up and it'll help for a while, but I figured I'd replace them both since they were only $35 each.
Very easy, you just stick a flathead screwdriver behind the mirror and pop out the glass. The mirror has two small wires for the heating element, and the actuators have three screws and two wiring harnesses in the back that you'll have to undo. done in less than 15 minutes each

Haha, mine were both clicking and I wasn't having any of that so I swapped them out. The mirror tilting down in reverse to this date is one of my favorite OEM features!
Honestly as far as lighting mods go, I'm not sure if I'll be doing much to the headlights or tails, so the mirror markers may stay stock.
I am pretty sure I'm just going to refinish and reseal my headlights and leave them stock (I LOVE Type-S headlights) so for the mirror markers, the most I'd probably do is tint them slightly with vinyl. Maybe when I get done with all my other more pending mod ideas!

Well, mine came that way, and I removed it...and immediately missed them being a little darker...with nothing on they are stark contrast to KBP.
I agree on the headlights...if I had not had to wipe off this imperfection which FORCED me to open them...I would have left well enough alone. But since I did...I had to ZKW and remove amber because I know I'd have regretted the effort and not doing it later. I put them back on the car yesterday to run some wiring and boy do they look awesome.

But the amber next to the blue though...it looks so good!
I never understood everyone's distaste for the amber. I love it.

The last time I went back to stock on type-S headlights (two TL's ago) I was like why did I ever give that amber up.... I love it.
Might go burnt orange on the brembos to match, but I think this time I want to go all out and get some powder coating done
J, I feel you on that actually. I think I wouldn't mind them being a little big darker. Definitely not murdered out like every car's tail lights in 2003. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Has anyone ever done the red stripe type treatment on type-s tails? Like just making the red parts a shade or two darker? I'm sure someone has I just can't recall what it looks like.
As for the heads...man...this is a long shot but has anyone with a KBP ever put base amber turn signal diffusers into type-s heads? Seems backward but I bet the amber would POP.

I considered the amber diffuser, since I have like 6 of them...I also considered leaving it on...but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I know myself and if I had the opportunity to make it look different...I had to.
Plus, I'm still doing amber lighting...but since that's the ONLY amber that's visible on the car with lights off...I was happy to lose it because that frees up the ability to choose whatever color brakes etc without clashing. I felt like if I had left it on there, I was gonna HAVE to do the burnt orange (which I still may do). I also didn't wanna visually shorten how far the lights wrap around to the fender so I left the chrome and opted for gunmetal rather than black.
About the red stripe treatment, that's a great suggestion, actually...
I did black bezel on a set of depo type s...now i wish I had the untouched bezel and I ain't cuttin my oem's open!

Honestly, the only custom tails I'd consider this time around are the ones I already had. I still fucking love them.
Dropped off the car this morning for some PDR; I really wanted these dents pulled ASAP. I know none of us like to show off our dings, dents, and blemishes, but for the sake of documentation and progress, here are some before pics. This is the same guy who pulled some for me on my last NBP TL. Hopefully he will not disappoint! I pointed out these three specific ones, but asked him to take a look around the whole car to see if he caught anything I missed. I'm sure he has a better eye than I do for this sort of thing anyway!
