Aren't you a proud Edmontonian? And as such, if you want a four wheel drive vehicle, you should be driving a lifted extended cab pickup with a set of balls hanging off the trailer hitch.

I voted Volvo.

I'm not angry enough and I won't get the tendency to cut people off on the Henday or Whitemud on snowy days.

Thanks for the feedback, T.

Goddamn...more doubt from what I thought was decided.

Well i went looking to see how much oil the FX50 takes.

Then found this. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...e_4/index.html

Can this be right?!!
<table style="width: 756px; height: 26px;" class="insettxt" border="1" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr class="hdr3"><td>

First off, I vote FX, but I'm biased.

Secondly, do you NEED to take it to the dealer for scheduled maintenance? I have a 60k mile 2005 FX35 and I have yet to actually take it to a dealer since everything up to this point has been basic up-keep and there have been zero quirks or surprises... Just a thought.

i say FX50.

but if you like the volvo then you'd like the audi Q5 even more i think. at least i did when i test drove it. the volvo's navi is weird in that the controls are behind the steering wheel or by remote control. no navi controls on the dash/console.

I haven't driven any of the vehicles mentioned thus far, but felt like I should mention the new Cadillac SRX. From the commercials, it looks pretty damn nice. No idea how it drives, handles, etc., but maybe check it out?

Get an X6. You don't have kids YET, and by the time they'll be old enough to bump their heads against the coupe-like ceiling it'll be time to trade in the car anyway. DO IT.

Thanks, VikeFan...I suppose we can have a "civil" convo outside of NFL-talks.

So, have you owned the FX for 4 years now? If so, how has it been overall maintaining it? And do you have any kids? If so, how is it hauling the family around...?

Absolutely no. I'm sure the X6 is great to drive but it is IMO one of the ugliest vehicles made...ever.

Maybe I should just keep it for 60 days and return it.

Tina likes all three...that really helped ( ). But, like me, there are +'s and -'s with each of the 3 too...

That being said, she can't pick either. Otherwise, I prolly wouldn't have started this thread.

Based on my 2 week long, 2200 mile jaunt with an FX35 earlier this summer while on vacation, I'd say you can't go wrong with an FX50. The only thing I had wished for was slightly more power and a bit more room inside. The FX50 definitely solves one of the two! I came *very* close to buying one a few months ago but decided we don't really need two SUVs.

I used to own FX35 RWD and i like the exhaust and acceleration. FX is very quick to drive even i only use midgrade shell gas, two things i dont like about it are the steering wheel, too heavy and the suspension is very stiff specially if you are in the back seat... o

I love it when you turn off your engine and when you open your door the steering wheel will rise and your seat will move backwards.. very cool...

Maybe just lease the car instead of buying it, after 3 years you can just easily get another lease... start with x5

The most logical decision is to get the X5d that has free long term maintenance and a good fuel mileage around town. If you get the 4.8i wheels and appearance pkg, it looks quite decent too.

But still.....

A 7AT 390hp V8 is an aweful thing to give up. I say get the FX in black and you'll never look back...just saying.

I've actually only had it 14 months. I do my own oil changes every 5k, so no worries there. The only thing I've brought it in for is a tire rotation and obviously, I'm not going to bring it to the dealer for that. Other than that, I've never had a reason to have it serviced, so no stories there.

We have no kids, but bought in anticipation for one in the coming years. I have a dog and dog loves it, but I'm sure that doesn't help you much.

We've taken several roadtrips with other couples in the FX and we've never been short on room, or had any complaints about comfort-ability. The only thing that's ever been brought up was my friends wife saying "something must be wrong with the muffler cause it's pretty loud when you speed up."

Funny that you are excluding wagons..... An RS6 Avant would work real well... (maybe not).

Now to reality. I had a V70, 3 kids (2 car seats), and it was a good amount of room. I was not looking for drag strip performance because it was meant to shuttle the wife and kids. That being said, and being hell bent on a good AWD for safety and cargo carrying should make the choice easier.

Are you affiliated with the Canadian government or military? If so, you can go through their Tourist and Diplomatic Sales and get a nice discount? BMW and Volvo offer this. Just a thought.

Yeah, I would actually be really happy in a Subaru Legacy GT but the wife really prefers an SUV/CUV...so, I won't go there. She did try out the V70 and said it was not as horrid as she thought at first...But, still...she prefers the SUV.

It must be a woman thing.

Nope, I'm not part of the military or socialist government.

At least this one.

The wife's Mazda3 will probably be in need of switching out in another 3 years...So, who knows...maybe we'll get a little Golf to zip around town.

But, that's getting ahead a bit.
