Proper way to store tires
Allright, I did a search and came up with nothing.
Just wanted to see how everyone stores winter / summer tires while they are not in use.
Do you inflate / deflate, any proper temps? I'm going to be putting them into a heated basement so not worried about that, just wanted to get some opinions.
Thanks

I never really gave it much thought. I always just stacked them on top of each other.
With my last car I had two full sets, wheels/tires, those I stacked 4 high and never had any issues. My current car I have 1 set of wheels and just swap the tires, those I stack in two sets of two.

Hanging is probably the best in bags to protect from UV. If you were to stack them id lay them on their side, but i would place them on a piece of wood so they arent in dirrect contact with the concrete.

Some places sell a stand that separate the tires so they are not in direct contact ... and the weight of rim+tire rests on the rim (where the bolts go through). I use that stand and I also deflate my tires to 24psi.
Prior to using that stand, I used to put a couple layers of cardboard on the ground and stack the tires with some cardboard between each tire. As well, I'd deflate the tires to about 24 psi.

Even though it's from 2002 I dont think tire storage methods have changed.

i've always stacked them by the side of my house.
with max summer tires exposed to the elements like that, it can't be good for longevity. but, i don't have the option of indoor storage.

I'd just leave them at a place that offers storage when they swap tires. I saw a BMW shop and they store all the tires standing upright on wire racks that go from the floor up to the ceiling. $400/yr for this service... probably the least expensive maintenance item for BMW's.
But I prefer to bring mine home so I can do a good cleaning of the inside of the rim and tire. Then they stand upright in plastic bags in my basement.
