Not brown, white.
If all goes well we will pick it up next weekend. I asked the guy to pull the codes and it came up with cylinder misfires but drove perfect. Sound familiar?

Vacuum and Coolant lines will be obvious, especially the big one to the brake booster.
Make sure to check the fuel pump cam lobe cap or whatever it's called. If that wears through it's catastrophic.
Everything was easy enough, I did it in the carport at my rental place. Got a badly misfiring and bucking and braking A3
with 191K miles down to no check engine light with very little money.

Check if the coilpacks have been done...when I did the airbag recall they replaced the coilpacks for free (that I had already replaced, waste of money).

I am a little nervous... first used car since 1990, and that was a dealer demo Taurus SHO.

Went to pick it up yesterday... dealer said they fixed a vacuum leak causing the misfire codes. Under the hood looks like all four coil packs are new (red). Dealer also said mechanic found rear main seal leaking, so they had him repair that. Drove it around, all good except auxiliary fan was not quite right, causing a loud hum and vibration when it was on. He took that to get it fixed and will deliver the car to us today or tomorrow.
Assuming all goes well I'll drop it off with my favorite mechanic for a once-over and DSG fluid change.

that's subjective as fuck, y'all hatin asses!
and I doubt he bought it for $1300 either
Congrats, Mike...I don't know if it's sentimental to when I bought it...I enjoyed working on it in the carport of my old rental place.
but I actually miss mine...I sold it for $2300 and recovered almost everything I put into it...I probably drove it 7K miles, had a lot
of fun making it check engine free and look cool. The next guy that bought it off of me knew his stuff and he really loved it.
The door lock actuators bugging out even after replacing them annoyed me...not a deal breaker but at 194K miles I knew if something
blew up, it would turn me from a hero into a zero.
I had put some B&G springs on with new bilstein oem replacement shocks (something like $200 for shocks, crazy cheap...and I got the springs for like $175, IIRC).
Made the car look mean.
somebody LOVE ME!

Yeah, it wasn't anywhere near $1300... $8600 out the door (car + tax title license). I put the total settlement from the TL into it, my son paid the rest. Used car prices are insane around here. Doubly insane at CarMax.
The cooling fan started making noise again on the drive home. I might just replace the whole assembly. Seems like not too bad a job.

No uncut springs either.
I do love my country golf course surrounded by farms and forest preserves neighborhood though.

Oh... J, in that case, you made out well!
It was a beater at first? I didn't know that... Nor did I know you only invested $3k into it...
Not bad, IMO!
You're a realzero hero, J!

Maybe not "invaluable" but certainly worth more than the car itself.
