Definitely get some dyno time scheduled to dial in the tune. It'll be way better then a street tune.
Thanks. I think it will end up being a great choice all said and done. The shop charges $100/hour and Ed says it takes 2-3 hours. I was going to get it on the dyno after the tune is finished to get numbers, so some of that cost is a wash. I tried to plug my datalog into Vdyno to get an estimate, but the log was missing some parameters. I might do another pull later with those checked off to see where the car sits at baseline.

I talked to a guy earlier today that's getting his EQT turbo GTI tuned by the same guy (EQT is the tuners turbo) and he said he felt the base tune was very conservative and his car really started to wake up with his 4th revision. The tuner said he usually does 8-10 revisions when tuning. Tuning from this point forward might get a little sketchy. He's been asking for 3rd gear pulls, but now he asked me to try for a 4th gear pull as well. It might be time to rent a dyno to finish up.

While on my way to work yesterday, I was at a red light and decided to roll into 1st gear and let it rip when the light turned green. Cobb traction control works amazing! I had very little slip and the car fucking took off. I fell in love with my car and it's no where near being done. I can only imagine how the car will feel once it's done.

A lot of the FWD Eurodyne guys are hoping they integrate traction control similar to what Cobb has. I've heard from others that it's pretty good.

And yeah, put it on the rollers to revise further. Street tuning in 4th is taking you to what, 130-140mph?

Yeah it's just over 130. I can do it at the spot I've been using, but still sketchy.

As somebody who did 3 logs last night ..... yeah, street tuning can get sketchy.

I have a specific road that I use for logging - very good visibility, 4 lanes split by a median, no traffic, and it's pretty remote ... although, I always do a test run at the speed limit to make sure there's no road debris / cops ... last thing you want is a surprise when you're doing 100mph+.

True, but SD to Tijuana is a minor hop.
PB must be running down to Cuba to do his logging

+1, Book some time on the rollers; you'll be able to fine tune as needed.

He just sent me a new revision last night. I'm going to load it today and datalog tonight. Nothing new to report other than me pulling on an ATS-V the other day getting on the interstate.

Hellll yes. No doubt, sleeper factor is one of my favorite aspects of building up a car. How is the traction control handling itself with the added power?

Traction don't seem nearly as bad as it was before. With factory TC coded to turn all the way off and Cobb TC on, it's far less invasive.

As my tune is wrapping up, I decided to hit the dyno this morning. I'm very happy with the numbers on stock fueling. The car made 396/390 SAE (411/405 STD correction). I'm still having some issues in the higher RPM range. It's breaking up and feels like misfires. I logged each dyno run and sent them to my tuner to check. I'm hoping to get it resolved with either new plugs or upgraded HPFP.

I'm right on par with other hybrid turbos and stock fuel. My fear was that I was going to be way under those numbers

It's crazy what cars can make these days. This setup is surprisingly easier to drive than my stock turbo.

It amazes me the power that you can get out of a lively single turbo in 2.0L ...

Impressive numbers and excellent powerband.

I love the powerband! My tuner is testing his new, bigger turbo on his own Golf R with Cobb's unreleased MPI and he made 584/465. It's insane to me that a 2.0 can make that kind of power.

Thanks! I'm glad I got rid of the FoST for this car. I was about to do a turbo swap on it, but I wasn't impressed others that went that route.

I had read that Ed was playing around Eurodyne - but I'm not sure how true that is. I really wish he would jump into that tuning platform - the tuner I was planning on going with retired recently

I'm pretty set on running his hybrid in a year or so.

I think I read that, too. He knows his own turbo better than anybody, so I'd want him tuning it for me. His first batch of turbos have had multiple failures. I'm sure in a year from now it will be all sorted out. If I was AWD, I'd probably consider his bigger turbo that is just being released.

and I realized then that I had been kinda curious about it
even when I had the Caddy...I wondered if short quick shifts
would make the drive feel engaging enough to be fun. I realize
now that it's not how a car feels when you hoon it that makes it
truly enjoyable. It's how it drives around town since that's 95% of
your driving. The DSG shifts under 2K (which I wouldn't be disciplined
enough to do with a manual for fuel savings) while feeling torquey and
like a rocket that wants to go. Light throttle...silent killer. Partial
you start hearing some whining, full throttle you hear a lot of whining
from the wife to be to slow the fuck down because the inertia makes
her feel vertigo.

So I guess what I'm saying is thank you for the push

It's that kinda thrill.

It's been awhile since I updated this... After driving the GTI for a little while with the hybrid turbo, I realized I wasn't happy with a high horsepower FWD car. I decided to part out the GTI and sold it to our very own Austin (Undying Dreams) back in Dec 2019. I was falling in love with the B8.5 S4 after seeing Rockstar's and The Machine's clean examples, so I bought a stock 2016 Audi S4 DSG with 40k miles. The car is a beast and puts the power down very well. I have since added a stage 1 ECU/TCU tune, intake, catback, coilovers, and some appearance mods. It's been through several different wheels (thanks to Rockstar) to give it the OEM+ look. I couldn't be happier with the car.

Earlier this year, I realized I was ready for a second car. I started driving the Audi a lot more and didn't want to trash it. I needed something that could haul my things and wouldn't need to worry about ground clearance. Some friends mentioned to look into a Honda Element. This car met my sub $5k budget and once I found out they can be had with a manual and AWD, my hunt began. A few weeks later, I booked a flight to Key West to pick up an 08 Element EX manual AWD. The car was just shy of 220k miles and was very well maintained. I've owned it for a few weeks now, put on about 2k miles, and it hasn't skipped a beat. The wheels were trashed, so I decided to paint them, along with the grill and add a few touches to the car. So far I'm loving this car! The previous owner had custom storage built in the back and can also be set up for camping. I'll have to take it out next winter after it cools off again.

Needs a thread title change!
Love it, brother...all of it.
Your tune is fast as hell.
I still love the peelers a lot...glad you are happy with the rotors though.
Element looks awesome with black wheels.

Didn't know the Element could be had in AWD and MT.
IMO, the OG wheels on the S4 look best, followed by the rotor, then peelers They all look great on there, though.
