Cobb accessport and turbo install kit arrived on Thursday. I purchased the Cobb through EQT and the L450 base map is ready to go. I have some spark plugs arriving tomorrow that I will either swap out last minute or right after I pick up the car. I installed a new set roughly 2k miles ago when I went stage 2, but I figured I better play it safe.

@SamDoe1 Here are the best looking Pretoria reps I've seen. I don't know their weight, but price is good if you're dead set on this look.

So fuckin on!
Let me know if you hear back. With so many people looking for Prets, these might be a great alternative.
I'm dopping the car off Wed morning and expect to have it back the next day. The tuner is very responsive and has been known to send revisions within 24 hours, sometimes the same day.

I'm bi-curious on what your ET speeds will be after this.
115-117 maybe?

There's a local selling the 19" Prets for $1100. I'd get them if they were 18s.

I just want 18s in general. 19s require such a low profile tire that the ride is jarring.
I also like meaty tires.

I just found this out through some research but please note the VW 18" Pretoria wheels are 18x7.5, the 19's are 19x8 so they are wider.

Yeah, that's the main reason I haven't pulled the trigger. I do think the 19" Prets look much better than the 18s, but I really want more tire.

I picked up the car this afternoon from the turbo install. Lets just say the base tune is... underwhelming. The car doesn't feel as fast as it was before. I wasn't expecting much from the base tune, so I'm not worried. The car is fine cruising around town. When I step on it, the power doesn't come on until after 3k. It doesn't have the TQ punch that the stock turbo has, but when I look at my speed, it's climbing just as quickly. It feels weird to pull harder the closer it gets to 7k. I'm looking forward to getting revisions done. I might book dyno time with a local shop and dial in 4th gear pulls there. The tuner said he's happy to set aside 2-3 hours if I go to a dyno shop and he won't charge extra since I'm already paying for a custom tune. I'm going to contact a few shops to see what they would charge.

I kinda miss that little spooly-boi IS20 in the GTI, made gobs of power at like 2k rpm but died at 5k
3k is about the same as the standard threshold for the factory IS38, but the L450 flows more. The stock IS38 doesn't die as hard as the IS20 in high rpms, but it does lose some boost pressure around 6k or so. I think you made a solid choice for a daily, and it will surprise a lot of people.
Definitely get some dyno time scheduled to dial in the tune. It'll be way better then a street tune.
