Yep, through their website. I ordered it during their promo sale when the AP V3 came out. Randy can dial in your tune to any mods or future mods you have, and provide launch control, etc.

Got my Levels Performance intercooler and Cobb rear motor mount installed today. The guy that makes these intercoolers lives two hours away from me, so I made the drive over there to have him install everything. The car is now all set to go for a tune.

There is a lot of vibration at idle right now. I needs to break in and it shouldn't really be noticeable. I'm sure it will help out with traction and wheel hop when it's making more power.

Oh yes. That's a part of the deal. More direct = more NVH. I didn't mind it at all after a couple of days. You won't even feel it after you break it in.

It minimized the wheel hop and prevented the engine from shaking when shifting hard.

I've been using the money I've made off of selling old parts from the Golf. I also bought some warranty stuff on the Golf that I cancelled and will be getting $400 back very soon. That will go towards the tune. Most of the stuff I've done has been paid for that way.

Looks great! Intercooler mod helps so much. You will love the tune, too.

I was quite surprised at the vibrations after upgrading the RMM, but as Kimchi said, after a a few days or a couple of weeks it will really start to break in and eventually you won't really notice it anymore. The benefits are definitely worth it. The next mod to help with wheel hop/traction is a tire upgrade. So far I'm finding the Michelin PSS tires to be much better than the Goodyear Eagle F1s, and even then I found those tires to be pretty good.

Since I live in FL and it's been over 90* all summer, I figured it would be smart to have this before doing the tune. I had the AC on full blast driving 150 miles to get home. I didn't notice much vibration at all this morning on my way to work with my windows down and the AC off. Luckily, my tires have plenty of life on them. I'll probably upgrade to some stickier tires when it's time.


I will definitely be getting the tune and I'm trying to hold out on getting a downpipe, just so I'm not going too crazy on the car so soon. I also need to look into a catch can setup.

I agree, pictures and car look great Adam. What kind of camera are you using again? I know very little about cameras, but I'm in the market for one and the options/reviews/opinions are overwhelming.

Thanks guys! I'm still shooting with my beginner camera, a Canon XSi. I've upgraded my lens collection, which helps the picture quality a lot compared to the kit lens.

Was the the purpose of the motor-mount to help the shifting out, meaning
smoother gear shifts. And I kinda figured you would experience some vibration
from the mount. I have a evo x and thought about buying a stronger Motor-
mount. But upon reading some reviews on the motor mounts that which
caused vibration, I decided to pass and buy some under hood gear bushings
which I've read goods things about them. Now I just need to find the time to
install them.

The purpose of the new motor mount is to minimize engine movement, improve traction, and reduce wheel hop. The new mount broke in after a few days and I only occasionally notice any NVH when sitting at idle with the AC on. I can't speak for Evo's, but the Golf R didn't have this problem since it was AWD.

More updates! After getting the new intercooler, I was bummed out that it was somewhat hard to see unless you were down low or really far away. If you walked up to the car and were looking down on it, the FMIC was blocked by a solid section on the grill that is there to mount a front license plate. I came across a grill mod on the forums that a lot of guys are doing after they get a new FMIC.

The process involved removing the bumper and shaving the backside of the grill until you completely remove the solid piece to open up the honeycombs. The project took a lot longer than I wanted due to me trying to use a dremel instead of buying a sander.

Day 1:

I quit after 4 hours of melting the platic, tearing up the backside of the grill, and making no progress.



Day 2:
I called my friend and he brought me a 5'' orbital sander. This is what I should have used from the start. Took me an hour and a half to finish the rest of the grill and smooth out the parts that were rough from the dremel.




All done and the FMIC can be seen from any angle


I also ordered a Cobb tuner and spark plugs. They came in yesterday and my tuning process will begin. After I log some miles, I'll start datalogging and email them to my tuner. He will revise the tunes and send me new ones until he feels the car is making good power and is safe.

This is the truth! If you're looking for fast 1/4 times, this is NOT the car. The low HP, high TQ makes this thing a blast to drive around town. I can't wait to see how this car drives after each tune revision. Once it's all done, I'll get it on the dyno and see what the numbers are.

Thanks! The tune is a must for the car. It really wakes up the car and makes it more enjoyable.

I started to question my decision to do this mod on the first day. In the end, I'm very happy with the results. It's very subtle and something only car guys would be crazy enough to do haha.

Not yet, I'm not sure what else I'd use it for. I bought one from Home Depot when I was buying pads in case the one I borrowed crapped out on me. I returned it later that day after not using it.
