make sure u don't hit the brakes if u know u can't avoid the pothole. it puts more stress on the wheel increasing the chances the pothole is going to do damage.

get insurance through your local tire company, i.e discount tire. they warranty potholes, curbs, bears whatever.

Rain sucks, so many jacked up roads after rain. Asphalt flying everywhere too.

I believe I saw a pothole swallow a Prius last night.

I hope this is not a stupid question. Are we allowed to sue the city for damages caused by potholes?

Can you sue? I suppose, but not sure how necessary or effective that would be.

As previously stated by fsttyms1, take pics of pot hole, or any other road defect and the bills accrued and send them to the city. Depending on the city and it's structure, it should be directed to street, public works, engineering, etc. They should cover your damages.

NYC eh? Ha good luck! Philly I've been told won't cover shit, I think this works more in small towns than in major cities.

Worked for me in NYC 4 years ago when i had my scion tC with stock low profile tires. If you damage a tire and/or rim because of a pothole you first take pics of the pothole and the street that they are on. Then you contact the city (in NYC you call 3-1-1 and they transfer you to the right dept.) Then you fill out a few forms, documenting what happened along with your information. Send proof of damage, pothole and the receipts for replacement purchases and then you get a check.

This worked for me 4 years ago, I'm not 100% sure it would work now.

There are so many potholes in Portland you have to make reservations to call the 800 number.

But seriously, +2 on sending the bill to the city.

I just bought a new set of Apsec rims, two of my rims have been bent thanks to potholes. I kept trying to find a seller for just two rims, but ended up buying a set of four. I just put the two bent rims of the rear for about a year, car still drove well. But feels much better now that there are four goods rims on again.

Now I just need to clean and sell the old ones, two bent and two good ones.

This is the fault of the state or city government. I've experienced major potholes on CA freeways, but I've luckily never had any damage done.

I'd definitely go after the owning agency.

I had to buy a set of wheels for the I35 after my wife hit a pothole in NYC and took 2 of them out. When I had my CL, I bent 2 wheels and destroyed a tire because of potholes.

My brother destroyed a nokian yesterday. But this is the northeast. Cali has no excuse. You won't get a dime out the city around here.
