Portable in-car GPS unit for dad...

I'm looking for a portable GPS unit for my dad. I've run some searches online, but I can't really find out which one is easy to operate and user-friendly, especially for those who are not savvy with the latest tech.

Can anybody recommend some models based on your experience?

Thanks!

I have the brand new garmin 3650 and it's been great so far. Got it to replace my old garmin from 5-6 years ago. It's like an iPhone in size and thickness.

I bought this one too, cause Sarlacc did.

We have two TomTom's, the newer one is a 130S which I've seen for under $100. Great GUI and text to speech, best feature is the twist mount which makes mount/unmounting easy. I'd recommend the 130S.

I think that is a major disadvantage for the intended user, in this case, my dad. Easy and simple GUI is the most important factor.

I did check it out, though. I like it and I would probably use that for myself, but the dislike you mentioned makes me feel iffy.

I've used Garmin Nuvi before, though I can't remember the specific models I used. They are pretty decent and I might go for the 255W.

See. I find the GUI very simple and straight forward.

I got my 63yo Pops a Garmin Nuvi 200 a few years back and he still uses it with no problem. And he is far from tech savvy

We bought a garmin for my father-in-law a couple years back and he's pleased with it. My dad also owns a garmin and likes it too. I figure if they are able to use them properly, the units must be user friendly!

FWIW Tom Tom's GUI sucks too. I shouldn't have to go through 5 menu's to change the route method.
