pics from the detroit autoshow (56k = death)

All,

I finally made it out to the Autoshow ... here are some of the pics I took.

Acura TSX (SEMA 2005 car)

Acura RDX

Honda prototype

Honda FCX concept

Volvo C30 concept (love it or hate it)

Inifiniti coupe concept (my next car when it makes it to production)

Volvo C70 cabrio

Ford GT500 Shelby (aka Mustang)

Toyota Volta (Giugiaro)

Lexus IS350 (modified by Team Lexus)

BMW M roadster

-- weird side turn signal

BMW Z4 coupe (concept)

Chevy Camaro (don't know what the hype is all about)

Pontiac GTO (I like this better than the Camaro ... even as boring as it is)

Audi RS4 (dedicated to Crazy Sellout)

Damn, CS ... you got in that fast?

I think it was worth the free admission that I was able to get ... (bro's GF works for Johnson Controls which gave out passes to employees). The 'show didn't excite me as much as NAIAS 2001 ... but that's unfair to say since I knew I was buying a car that year. I'm still up in the air about a car purchase in the next 12 months (damn Infiniti!)

$12 for in? Yeah ... it's worth it. I totally skipped Toyota and Chrysler even though I was at the show for 3 hours. (I was getting hungry and didn't want to eat Cobo food ...)

BTW, I took more pics but I didn't want my photobucket acc't to exceed in the first hour ...

fdl ...

There are FAR uglier cars on display at the show ... I didn't want to waste my batteries on them. Apparently that fluorescent green Honda won a design award. (It was beside the Toyota Volta ... that's the only Toyota car I took pics of ... if you don't count Lexus).

I think the Volta could be found as a 'Giugiaro' ... that was on the display sign ...

Giugiaro is an itialian design company, not the name.
I think they also designed the Ferrari GG550 thats supposed to be at the show.

Good luck .. EURO-snob!

There was a cute 'spokesperson' at the BMW pavillion my friend was hitting on. Don't know about the Audi section since most of them were talking to one another in behind the desk ...

kinda sad that the one thing you're hoping for is getting free water...

Thanks for clarifying ... I had no idea why an Italian name was there. They did have a demo of the carbon fiber shell of the Volta on display. That was neat.

Hey- I'll go to photobucket and do my pics from the show. I took more pics of concepts, and Lambo's, Aston's, etc. The show was worth the free tickets, not $12 each plus parking. The wife looked at the 350Z and the Mitsubishi Elipse Spyder. If you go, check out the Fire paint on the 350Z Touring, for $500 option it's well worth it.

Wow, even better than my photos from the show. The FCX and Volta look good. I missed the Volta last weekend though, but you did a nice job taking pics. I went through every exhibit as usual, taking photos of the Camaro and Challenger [as requested by everyone NOT going to the show who wanted pics ] and grabbing every brochure. Out in 3 hours, ate lunch at Greektown.

Supposed to be big snow this weekend, people waiting to go at the last minute always get screwed!

"I don't get it" ... it's Detroit, you gotta look at the Detroit-nameplate cars.
The European brands are fully there, but the Germans brought very little new to the show compared to Chrysler/Ford/GM and Honda/Nissan/Toyota.

Mercedes won't even let you sit in their cars this year unless you are V.I.P.

I am very selective on what brochures to pick up. Lexus was cheapola on their brochures ... not surprising, since most people would pick it up. I liked the Scion booklets. Maybe it's because Scion is unavailable in Canada.

As for MB, I think those guys suck for not letting anyone sit in their cars. C'mon, most of the cars are attainable. Sure -- the $450,000 Mclaren being roped off ... that I get. But a measley C230 Kompressor? That is plain retarded. Another reason why I'd never buy a Benz (plus the many problems my bro had with his C32 ...). Same can be said about Audi since their cars were locked up. That's just plain bad PR...

Yeah, I should have taken more pics of American cars but I think the mags covered them very well. I have more pics from the 'show but do people want to see more pics of a GTO? (CL Power just got one and posted pics ...)

Most of the Mercedes Benz cars were open on Tuesday. But their cars are pretty boring. Missed the cars downstairs-damn.

Meh we arent going to the show. Im not risking going if the cars are locked... i could go to the dealership and have more time inside.

Plus i seen all the pictures.. thats good enough for me.

We going to test drive the GTO today for kicks. Maybe i will trade in the audi for it.

No manufacturers are left in the basement anymore, now that Isuzu is out of the show. Tuner cars are down there ... big whoop. Show me that Buick Enclave again

All booths are technically equal, but some are more equal than others. I sat in a Hyundai Tiburon and a SAAB 9-7X this year no problem. BMW and Honda are ... you know, more busy.
