Picking up a 2000 Civic Ex tomorrow

Hey guys, I know it's been a while, but I figured I'd give everyone a little update. I traded in the CL earlier this year for an '07 Subaru Impreza 2.5L which will be going to my wife soon. We mainly bought this to replace her 98 Monte Carlo Z34 that has 130k miles on it, is leaking antifreeze, and has a transmission that's slipping. This past weekend I called a local dealership about an ad they ran in the paper on a 2000 Civic EX with 78k miles on it for just under $6k. Long story short (if you look at the link, the asking price is almost $8k)...the ad was wrong, but they honored it anyway. I just have to get the driver's side window fixed on my own (it's off track). Below is the link from the dealership, but it will probably only work for another day or two. I'll post some pics as soon as possible.

Since I got married last year, my priorities have shifted a little so I was just looking for something reliable with good gas mileage. We are currently trying to save as much money as possible (buying house and having children within the next few years). I'm probably going to do some minor mods (factory fog lights, K&N drop in, etc), but am planning on leaving it mostly stock for now. Any comments, opinions, advice, etc welcome.

Nice car, and hey at least you have your priorities right

I have been to that lot a few times. I bought my car new from their Acura lot, which isn't far from that used lot.

I'd love one of those, but it's out of my price range.

Personally, I think that is the best looking civic ever, the 1999-2000 models.

Nice find, and good luck with it.

Great to see you have your priority's in order.

Not only is that car a great deal but the insurance and gas on it should be great as well.

The future wifey has a 2000 Civic EX she bought brand new. Just got rear ended last weekend coming home from her bridal shower

Going to get it fixed and cleaned up next week after the wedding while we are away.

My 99 Civic was rear-ended and it was a total loss

That generation of Civics was the best IMO. Good design, nothing weird about it, but enough design elements to make it stand out in the econo-sedan crowd. Great gas mileage (and mine was an auto!). Used to drive 2 weeks while going to school and working part time without filling up.

I here ya!! I am in the process of buying a house now (waiting for an original power of attorney, LONG story), getting married in April, trying to plan a honeymoon AND i have over $20k is student loans! So i can definitely relate because i have a 06 TSX with only 19,7XX miles on it and i almost traded it for a few different cars because i wanted something faster. I only owe about $2500 left on it and figured it would be stupid. My soon to be wife just bought a 07 Tc and owes like $11,5XX on it so we're doing ok BUT i spend 95% of my savings on the house, so we're cutting it close!
