Mercedes costs, plus extra for the AMG badge
Can't imagine they're much different than those in the same category.

Tbh, that’s not a lot more than a gt3 just doing all scheduled service at the dealer…

No experience, but I'd think the GT3 would be far more of a driver's car than the Merc...

I have a friend that has an AMG GT. Nothing has gone wrong with it in the 5 years he's had it, just basic services. Anecdotal AF but it's a data point. I think the motors and electronics in them are fairly robust as they are the same as any other AMG (motor) or Benz (for electronics) but I've read that the transmission is the point of contention as there's something that starts to leak and the fix that Benz has is to replace the trans. There are apparently now people actually fixing the leak by replacing a gasket rather than a transmission though. This is all hearsay so who knows.

Sounds like the 'death code' on the early C8 transmissions. Pilot friend of mine bought a CPO C8, and the first one he looked at threw the death code on the test drive.

i suppose it depends on which trim of the AMG GT, I’m thinking the R and up are pretty hardcore too.

That is still good info, is he pretty gentle with it, or does he Autocross or track occasionally?

The GT-R is probably about GT3 level? Then the Black Series is higher up still but that costs more than a GT3RS so not sure how that plays out.

He is absolutely not gentle with it. It's tuned for straight-line speed on E20, downpipes, bigger turbos, etc so he does plenty of drag racing and other such things with it. He has also tracked it (not autox, it's not nimble enough for that) a bunch of times.

Ouch, drag races re pretty harsh on the power train, I’m glad he is having fun though!

yeah, there are so many variants of that thing, I forget where they all stack in the range, chronology or price points…

Correct, it basically goes GT, GT-S (which is what my friend has), GT-C, GT-R, GT-R Pro, Black series

The early C8's and their low capacity oil (13quart?) vs. the newer C8 (14quart) oil pans in the Tremic 8DCT transaxle. IIRC, I thought there were parking pawl issues in early C8's. I'm still looking at C8's, especially with the new cockpit redesign.

Very nice 2C with the "Stinger" hood the big block (396, 427) motors had. Looks like fugly aftermarket steering wheel. At local gas station in for service.

At the Dallas Cowboys training facility in Frisco Texas. Pretty awesome area for seeing some exotic rides.

On the C2 corvette, I don’t like the front bumper delete, and as you pointed out, those wheels are a crime.

Ok, 500E, I think? Too blurry on my phone
Just can tell by the headlights it was before the switch to the model being ahead of the number.

It does appear to say 500E

Also the wide fenders indicate as such.

Too bad about the chrome wheels.

Yeah, put the regular painted wheels of the same design, or some Monobloks.

What I think is funny is the Honda Civic makes the Corvette look small.

The newer Civic definitely makes a C2 seem like a small car. A current Civic probably makes a CB7 Accord seem about the same in size.

Love the look of those G-wagens. There is/was an electric green/yellow one in downtown Houston. Would see it pretty regularly. Not my choice of color, but they look great.
Also, that one looks to be a Brabus

The car behind the Chiron is an F8. lol the Altima and the Chiron in the same pic, 2 opposite ends of the credit score.

I agree the 4x4 square look awesome, Brabus is extra insane.

Thanks for correcting. Google Lens shit the bed. Plus they called the Karma behind it a Koenigsegg. And at the Altima comment.

Maybe it just assume anything behind what is clearly a Chiron is top stuff. Although, personally, I would take an F8 over an SF90, no question. Even though, when new, SF90 was a good bit more money.
Im glad you said what the 3rd car is, because I couldn’t figure it out. It looked 2 door for some reason and zooming in didn’t help at all.

Didn't have time to chat with the guy past 'neat car'
The toy car windup key on the gas cap is a nice touch

I don't know if this was some sort of escort situation or total coincidence, but the Tennessee State Trooper Mustang was ahead of the 720S and there was a C8 Vette behind him.

Agree to disagree. Not a fan of the blue on blue stripes and with accents in the interior, but I can't afford either so my opinion doesn't really count.

I like the exterior on that 720, but the black/red doesn't really flow with it, IMO

If I only had opinion on things I can afford, I’d be quiet a lot.
so, do you prefer the exterior of the one with lol the little flicks and vents?

Yeah, I can see what you guys are saying, maybe blue would have tied in better with the exterior. I like the blue with blue stripe, sets it apart without being too in your face.
