Dumb little update but I did this a few weeks ago. I got a neoprene cover for the armrest to avoid the dogs scratching it up. Plus the armrest gets hot in the summer and the neoprene (wet suit material) helps keep it cool to the touch.

I got a full canvas seat cover set for the back seats so no issue there, have yet to install them since I need to rip out the side panel to get the sub enclosure installed

Serious question from a fellow dog owner. Where do I get a neoprene armrest cover? I need one for the V stat. Current cover is a towel cut in half wrapped around it cause Enzo won't keep his paws off the damn thing when I put him in the car.

Well, after weeks of waiting I finally got the satin black roof rails installed on the truck. Here's a little before and after

Driver's side installed

I was able to use the stock Toyota OEM black roof caps so I was able to avoid painting the silver caps which I now have 2 sets of

I was trying and planning to mount an ARB awning on the roof rails for use when I go to concerts but after nearly 2 hours of fighting with the provided mounts I discovered that the powder coat thickness was preventing the bolts from going in correctly. Frustrated I scrapped the awning mounts for now and mounted the other bar.

Overall I'm happy with the look of the new black rails and the silver delete. Here's the finished product with the OEM black caps installed.

And both sides done

Further back shot to show the black theme, even the gf approves

Looks great. Can't wait to see some full shots. Definitely completed your theme.

As far as the awning goes I wonder if you would have sanded down the rails before having them powdercoated would the brackets have fit? Either way just gives you reason to get a basket to mount it too so win win.

They sand blasted them before PC

I'm not sure if it's the powder coat necessarily or if the rails actually warped slightly during the baking process. I started scratching up the inside of the track and the pieces were getting stuck so I got pissed and gave up lol. Looking in to different mounting solutions now...

Just realized many of the roof baskets completely replace the rails

Yeah, if I'm doing anything it will be a roof rack that mounts to the stock locations, no baskets

Sure you have already seen this but lots of good ideas in here. One guy seems to even make some laser cut brackets that work with stock side rail. If I was mounting that on a side rail I think I would still want to get a set of cross bars to help balance the load even though it isn't much.

Yeah, I've been through that back in the day. I have the brackets, the only issue is securing to the rail itself since those brackets wouldn't fit. I'm thinking of just using some bolts and/or bolts and washers and just sliding them in the channels, that's essentially all those pieces that don't fit are but they're threaded

Went ahead and threw my canvasback liners in, I ordered them back in March and didn't want to put them in until I ripped the back seats out, but since they mount with velcro I figured I could always rip it out later. The fitment is great and they even include Milk Bones for your dogs

Installation was super easy

I also got the additional flap that goes over the headrests, still planning to get something more solid to go over this area to keep the dogs from falling through

And, I went ahead and started populating my storage panel, I have a lot of stuff to go on, but I figured the First Aid Kit should be front and center and easily accessible.
