UPDATE: Eddie Griffin's publicist, Lori Jonas, told TMZ, "It was not a hoax. Eddie was racing for a charity to promote his upcoming film, "Redline." He got in an accident. He is suffering from neck and shoulder pain as a result of the accident. It was in no way a hoax."

Even though I think Eddie Griffin's publicist is the LAST person to believe (or comment on) regarding whether it was a hoax, I do believe her. He hit that wall HARD. That's not something you do just to gain exposure or publicity, regardless of how starved you are for it.
