Opinions wanted....

serious thread and question. 2017 Accord Sport. Thinking of getting the roof wrapped gloss black. Windows have 15% tint and I don't plan on any mods. Yes nor no?

Instead of all black, would you consider Carbon fiber? I've heard the new CF wraps, like the "5D" stuff, looks super realistic these days. I've only seen pictures of the stuff up close and it does look pretty good. I'm going to order a few sample pieces from a couple places just to see how I feel about it, in person. I was never a fan of the faux CF look, like the "3D" stuff, that also has a weird texture to it. I'm hoping this new stuff makes me change my mind. It has a nice high gloss layer on top, making it look pretty real. The nice thing is that samples are generally only like $2 each.

Also, you'll have to make sure to replace it every few years. If the product is rated to be good for 5 years, I'd maybe replace it at 4, just because it can become a real pain in the ass to remove if it stays on for too long. It'll break off in small pieces, as opposed to the whole thing coming off. Just something to consider.

Hey, if it costs $150 to wrap your roof and it lasts 4 years, I'd say that's pretty good! Or you can just leave it on (it should continue to still look good), and Let the next sucker who buys your car deal with it

I have only ever seen pictures of that 5D and 4D carbon fibre as well and I agree it actually looks sick because it has real depth and gloss to it. Not that weird texture matte looking stuff. But lmao I was going to tell OP do the gloss black and please don't think about CF. Now that you bring it up. OP please don't think about CF wrap

EDIT: That shit comes in 6D too now? I'm really tempted to just buy a bunch of samples and compare. There are tons of pics of 2D through to 6D side by side on google, but I can't really tell the difference to be honest with you. Would have to see it in person I think.

Double Edit: I have never so much as touched vinyl wrap, from what I read the CF stuff is harder to wrap because it can't handle much stretching. So is the 4D-6D stuff even harder to work with you guys think?

No, it is really easy to work with because it is really thin. At least that's what every site I've come across says.

Lmao I think we need to get our hands on some wrap and try some shit out man. It looks like something that is harder than it looks, yet forgiving and when you get it right is really gratifying.

I don't have 6D wrap or what its called nowadays but I have the new 3M gloss CF which came out a short while ago and it looks great. I had matte before and the depth of the new gloss one is fantastic. I think it would look pretty good on a roof.

Gloss Black, do it.

Matt finish usually looks very cheap.

And try to do something about the chrome beak in the front and trunk. Those should the look of the car dramatically.

Seems like it's a good idea.

Not a fan of carbon fiber though.

Just need to get a price now.

Agreed with most. Gloss black would look great. I'm itching to have it done on my car, too.

Id say go for it. I used to race dirt bikes with a gentleman's son who owns his own tint/wrap business. His son had a wrapped Xterra and took it offroad many times, held up fairly well. This was 4 years ago and the new owner of the vehicle still has the wrap on, in great condition. While you're at it wrap the silver/chrome accents as well. Black & white look amazing combined (within reason) IMO!

Saw a WOP sport with matte black and it looked horrible. I thought about doing it, but I'm on the fence.

Either I'd go with gloss black or CF. Either one you choose do post a picture here so we can see the outcome.

I am against it. I think it will disrupt the flow of the car too much. The Accord already looks great and doesn't need it.
