Depends how much they weigh, but they do look better than the stock ones.

Personally I don't like them. I think the stock elise wheels look really nice. I would stick with stock.

Although those wheels are really nice, I'd stick with the stock ones. Unless the tire tread/grip is that much better, the lotus wheels are really classy. It's all a matter of personal preference

I saw the wheels for sale that LT is looking at getting, they are a tremendous deal at the asking price. With that said I believe it goes from a 16/17 set up to a 17/18 set up which would compromise performance, which doesn't suit the car. Though I want the Stella Corsa's, so if he gets these then there will not be two elises in town with the same wheels, which sounds good to me

btw the guy who has them for sale also has a gallardo

iforged/dpe/HRe and etc.... they dont belong to your car....

Priority should be the WEIGHT..

Try these:

RAC wheel, forged, super light 18" that is around 18lbs or less depends on ur width.

Not feeling 'em either. But ultimately, it's your decision. So if you like 'em and you'll be happy, then go for it.

+1

furthermore, I personally believe, that cars, such as the Elise, such as, should ideally be left stock, because they are pretty much fine-tuned per the manufacturer's exacting racing specifications, from the factory.

I got a couple of people I know in CA who are like that too with the whole 80's black/black/black/black/black "T-Type" treatment thing... must be one of those CA things.

the black wheels thing is pretty popular right now.... I've seen some sick 911's, CLS63, and even Audi Q7's with black wheels... and they look tight on white cars (believe it or not). BUT, with that said... there's a black Bentley GT and a black M5 around here with black wheels and they both look terrible! It's NOT so much that they're black... but it's the kind of wheels they owners went with... on both cars... from a distance... you'd swear they're driving around with spare tires. The first time I saw the M5... I thought to myself... "what's the chances of that happening... the guy getting 2 flat tires in a roll..."

But it seems to be common place in the Elise community, I think the number one thing to do to your wheels is paint them black, and I just don't think it looks good.

The black wheels on the blue elise are the euro Exige wheels, and were available for a short period of time on the Fed. Elise with sport pack, because they ran out of the forged sport pack wheels(most often referred to as LSS wheels). The euro Exige wheels are not forged, but are the wider width(over the standard wheels) which will reduce understeer a little bit, but they are also the heaviest factory wheels available and thus not common or desierable.

I have seen too many broken HRE and Iforged wheels from track use that I will never buy them. I agree with everyone else-stick with your current set-up or get some ultra-light wheels for track use.

Powder-coating track wheels black is both good and bad. Good because your wheels don't look that bad after a long weekend of track days. Bad because you can't see the brake dust as easily as other lighter colored wheels.

As our fine, departed Englishman Colin Chapman always said..."performance through light weight".

I'd choose my wheels to celebrate Chapman's philosophy, not dilute it.

If you want some nice custom forged alloys that aren't iForged or HREs, look into CCW.

I was going to get those when I had for my old gto, but I dont think they suit a lotus.

I like your stock rims between the 2. A car like the Lotus is designed around a specific purpose, in this case racing. The aftermarket wheels are kinda flashy for a Lotus.

I wouldn't say not to upgrade, but if you do upgrade for "go" not "show".

LotusTracker: Are you by any chance a member of elisetalk forums?

You may have seen this laser blue Elise, it used to belong to my friend... the wheels are the Advan RGII in chrome. He was also the guy who started the Colin Chapman decals on there

I think they were pretty light, but not 100% sure.

Yeah, you're right. But I guess what I meant was the NON-chrome version of the RGII's are relatively light
