Opinions on the MazdaSpeed 6?
Hey guys/gals,
The CL is on it's last leg and I have been looking into suitable replacements.
I was wondering people's opinion on the MazdaSpeed 6.
Thanks!

Decent car, power is good, AWD system could stand a little more sorting, interior is pretty mediocre.
When I test drove one, the car tended to exhibit a great deal of push in low speed corners as if the AWD system wasn't reacting quick enough to compensate.
An okay car overall, but for the same level of performance and price, I would take the Legacy GT.

yea, those GT's are nice...speaking of, I found this one on ebay. One of the pictures would raise my eyebrow on how the car was taken care of.

I drove a GrandSport model a few months ago.
Pros:
- VERY little turbo lag
- VQ35DE-like powerband (SOTP) -- pulls HARD!!
- Handles similar to a BMW E90, despite its relative heft
- Sharp Mazda6 looks (even the base 6i is a sweet looking sedan)
- Nicer car than overall than the Altima SE-R
- Built in Japan
Cons:
- Cheap interior for a car with a $30G
- Questionable Mazda quality
- Unknown performance aftermarket for the DISI motor
- Intercooler is not in an ideal location (efficiency)
- Mazda6s looks better (see intercooler comment above)
That said, I want to try out a Legacy 2.5GT just to get some perspective on the MS6.

I read in either Car & Driver or (or both) Road Track, that one of biggest cons is that MazdaSpeed 6 loses steam above 6000 high RPM (sort of like the Nissa VQ but worse), which is the opposite of typical honda engine.
Then again its pros is its awesome handling

I would wait a year or so before getting the mazdaspeed 6...first year cars are notorious for probs.

awesome car, Mazda should have geared it more agressively though. If that car had better gearing, it would have been closer to the evo and sti in performance.
