Which one would you pick?
Hey guys, im from the 2nd gen tl section, and i was faced with this decision today and i have time to choose but which car would you choose? My parents told me for my graduation gift in a year, I would be able to pick either an 08 TL or and 08 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo MR. Know that this is an Acura forum, the votes might be piling in on the TL. I seriously have no clue what to choose from since i love both cars... I might lean onto the TL side because i really dont wanna leave this forum since its so great and the community is great.

You only live once. EVO. Simple as that. The EVO is one blisteringly quick and fun-to-drive car. You'll have plenty of time in your life to drive family sedans, especially if you plan on having a family.
If anything, get the EVO to satisfy the boy racer in you now, then dump it later - so you can say you had at least one sports car in your life.

Try driving each of them the way you would normally drive (which is probably not driving like you're on a race track) and make the decision based on that.
I'm biased towards leather/lux features along with decent performance, so I never considered the higher-performance STi/Evo cars. I also chose a quieter car over one with more exhaust rumble.
YMMV.
Remember to thank and appreciate your parents.

If the TL is a Type S, go for that. Also try what Will was saying, the Evo might be a fun car to drive but it might get annoying after a while. It will also draw unwanted attention. (i.e. cops)
It sounds like you're pretty young so high powered sports car + young male driver=$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ insurance.
You may say that your parents will cover insurance but I bet they haven't gotten estimates yet.

Wow that's awesome.
I would go for the Evo. You're young, live it up.

TL regardless ... I don't like Evos and the TL is a nicer car that will last you longer.
If you're getting a TL, you can drive that car into the ground for like 12-15 years. That means when you graduate if you're doing well, you can get a huge jump on all the things you'll want to spend money on (like saving for a house and a ball and chain when you get married, etc) instead of that tarted up Lancer.

make a pros and cons list.
some questions to consider:
where are you going to school? will the EVO be more of a target for vandalism than the TL?
will the extra space in the TL be useful to you when moving belongings around?
will the better gas mileage of the TL be useful to you?
etc.

practical choice, TL. unpractical choice, Evo. I'm going to tell you to go Evo, but I don't have to live with the consequences of driving a performance car, with the gas mileage, insurance, and possibly reliability.
I have to say though, the Evo X has always been one of my favorite cars and since mitsubishi has said the lifetime of the Evo might be very limited, it has made me want one even more.
I've always considered myself to be pretty practical, but looking back of being in college when I had a Legend, I really wish I had an Evo

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
TL. The Evo will be vandalized, and you mint not be able to handle a car like that. And you will like the kind of girls you will get with the TL vice the Evo.

Have you driven both cars? Do you like them equally?

EVO X> Over previous years
If you get a TL do you plan on doing any mods? If so, I think the Type S is a waste. If you're going to change suspension, wheels, exhaust, etc, why not just get a Base and start from there? Sure the Type S has a little bigger of an engine and the headligts are better looking but all the cosmetics can be changed (for relatively cheap too if you go into the Black Market here on Azine). The only way I would buy a Type S if it were in KBP , love that color!! And last I heard they don't make a S/C for the Type S either.

i would say it depends on how long u plan on keeping the car. if 10 years or so, go with the TL, so that way when u go to interviews and stuff u go in a semi classy car, but if its only like 5 to 6 years get the EVO so you can beat the snot out of it and then get into something more luxurious

I'd go with the TL. It'll likely be cheaper to run, and any money is a grateful thing in college. That, and it actually has enough space in the back to get your Mizouse on.
Once you graduate and start making some good money, you can go ahead and buy a weekend car.

So guys the MR is outta the picture. Even though if you got money to get it, people who dont know alot about cars are gonna give you the ricer look if you speed pass them, unless youve got something super noticable to the untrained eye. So now the new car in the picture is an 08 g35, still tl? cause ive driven a g35 and those are fun! Its luxury and also very fun to drive!

Why the hell would you care about what others think of ur car??? Just get what you really want to get. Dont be dumb.

To be honest at your age I would pick the Lancer, you can always look back on the time you had a real rocket which the TL will never be. The Lancer is a great car and offers up performance rarely found elsewhere at the price the car will cost. Later in life when other things become more important you can get a relaxed cruiserbut right now get the rocket enjoy the ride and try to avoid points as much as possible. Acura builds nice cars but honestly it is simply not a sports car nor was it intended to be one.

where are you going to school? an evo may land you less pussy than if you had no car at all. the evo definitely qualifies as a turn off to many chicks. try picking up a hot sorority girl for a date in an evo. haha.

Drive the TL, Evo, and G, then choose which one YOU liked the most. Don't worry about other people, those cars are nicer than some college students drive in the first place.
