So the rear piece of the trunk carpet in my car has been abused by the time I got the car. It needed some TLC bad. On the way back from the East Coast NSX meet I went through some heavy rainstorms and learned my trunk leaks really bad. Going to need to figure that one out pretty quickly. So I pulled all the carpet out so that it could dry out and I could wipe everything down. While it was out I decided to fix the issue with the back carpet as it did not get wet. When I pulled it out the only thing that was still attached was the right corner plastic mount. The center and left were no longer even attached to the carpet.

So using some vice grips to hold things in place and then a staple gun plus screwdriver I was able to put the piece back together. Had to unfortunately bend each staple prong in place since there was no backing plate. Need to get staple pliers if it ever comes apart again.

Before. This isn't the most recent picture. I had forgotten to take a picture of it before I started but even the middle had come apart as well.

Staples bent in place

Completed. When I put the rubber seal back in place I noticed I probably should have put the carpet up higher than I did on the plastic mounting. I thought it was supposed to be flush but the carpet should have probably been about 1/8in above the clip strip. Still looks 100x better though.

I don't know what in the world you would do with yourself if you ended up selling those other two and ended up with just 3

I am glad you enjoyed that. I've heard Tool my entire life, but never really appreciated them until recently.

So the floor mats in this thing have been bugging me for a while. They are not in terrible condition carpet wise but the NSX stitching is almost all worn off so they look terrible. Replacement mats are between $300-400. However, you can get Zanardi red and black mats which are not as thick for around $80. I can't decide if I am going to do a red interior conversion or not so I don't want to buy standard mats yet so these will look good for a while and tie in with my Nardi wheel till I make that decision.

Not looking so hot

The replacements

Slightly different shape. They fit a little tighter widthwise in the car.

Apparently, when the car was repaired they never removed the plastic under the floor mats. I hadn't bothered to either since picking the car up but I did now.

The security tab for these mats needed to be moved from the left to the right

Looks much better now

I would imagine an upholstery shop might be able to take the binding off the edges, remove the backing maybe?, restitch the logo, then put new binding one. The issue is the binding isn't really standard binding but rather seems like wrapped stitching. Probably just easier and cheaper to shell out the $300-400 once I figure out what color interior I want to do. The regular factory mats are also probably twice as thick pile as these. The Zanardi edition was made lighter than though so I imagine that might be why they are thinner.

Agreed love the wheel. Had tried it in my TSX and just looked too modern for the interior years ago but I still ran it for a while. It flows perfectly in the NSX though. Not sure I will ever change from it.

I like the higher end ones for the S2000 but I have those hexmats and called it a day, keeps the foot wear off the transom bar and sand out of the carpet.

There are also these mats from a JDM company. I think they look pretty good. Not as expensive as factory NSX mats but still not as cheap as what I put in. They also make a matching trunk mat as well. There is a matching trunk mat to the Zanardi mats I have but it is discontinued so when you can find one for sale they range from $600-1000 typically.

The whole decision on a black vs red interior needs to happen first though. I have red carpet already brand new in the box from the previous owner. I have red Recaro suede roll to do the door panel inserts. I just need a set of either all red seats or black outer with red stitching with red centers. Those would be my two choices. If I stayed with black carpet I could still do the second set of seats with a red center and then do the doors as well since it would match the seats. Decisions

Mats look good, but seem more in place on something like a GTI, IMO.
