Saw one of these in black on the way to work yesterday and thought to myself, "Hmmmm, even though it's more than 10 years old, that's actually a pretty damn handsome wagon."

Even better in R-Design trim ....

It’s definitely a wagon. I’ve seen a few in person and they are beautiful. Because the wheels are so far back it doesn’t look like it, but there’s decent space behind the back seats. More so than a Ferrari FF for example.

The rear overhang certainly is uncharacteristically short. Thx for the info. The regular Panamera is pretty big too.

Not sure if this gives a better sense of the length...?

It is a better looking car than the regular Panamera although the new Panamera looks much better too. That said I agree it still isn't a perfect wagon cause you are sacrafising a good bit of cargo room with the 45degree rear window. Audi is doing the same thing unfortunately with the new A6/S6/RS6 Avant. I like them both better than Mercedes but Mercedes still designs a better wagon in wagon form if you will.

If you can black out the kidneys why can't you also black out all the rest of the trim?

Oh and those mega kidneys look ridiculous. I think it is the worst looking BMW ever. Even the Bangle shit wasn't was bad as that.

It basically looked like this (except the paint was a dull, matte black--"dull, matte" because any shine in the paint was totally gone due to the car's age):

This is probably the best take on this monstrosity. It's trying way to hard to muscle it's way into the Maybach arena, when part of the charm of the previous 7s was that it was somewhat sporty in comparison.

During my run today I saw this E350 4Matic (W211; 2008?) wagon with what looked like (?!?) a slammed rear end ... and thought to myself, "Why? Why?" (Yes, I checked, and there was NO CARGO in the rear weighing down that rear suspension ... wtf?)

My money is on a failed hydraulic suspension. They fail all the time on that gen MB.
