The Official Motorcycles/Scooters Thread

I hate you Jefford. Under sixty when ice forms.
I'm sitting in my shop at the moment, looking out the window, and trying to get the initiative to go out in -25 degree weather. Terry
civicdrivr - Bike looks amazing!BTW, how quickly does your powder coating guy get stuff done? I finally took off my rear sets and debating on sending it to tripage or getting a local shop to do it.

I just sent him a message asking how long it should take. Ill let you know
since it's right in the middle of college spring break
It'll most likely turn into an annual thing for us. I'll snap some pics if I remember and put them up.
I'm 99.99% sure they're having a booth there this weekend.
Anybody in Royal Enfields? I am planning to get my motorcycle licence this summer. I've always liked Royal Enfields and I am planning to pick up a used one if I can find one under reasonable price. Good for riding around town.
blood in me is so forcing me to pull the trigger..

It's "bike week" in Scottsdale this week.
I have never seen so many people riding without helmets...
Incidentally, there have already been two deaths from riders crashing. Without helmets.

Theres no way I would ride my bike without, at the very least, my helmet. Ive taken a rock to the helmet and that snapped my head back, I can just imagine how much pain I would have been in without the helmet.
So excited... finally got my bike out of storage now that we're settling into the new place!!!! We don't have a garage yet (it's on the construction list)... but really, who needs a garage?

Cool! I love the style. They don't seem to have too many dealers, though, of service is something you were going to leave to others.

Anyways, it's a blast down there. Highly recommended, biker or not
R.I.P. battery.
Damn thing wont hold a charge (on the Triumph). So I just ordered a Ballistic 12 cell. I could possibly have gotten away with the 8 cell, but there have been reports that the 8 cell cant start the bike after a cold night.

It weighs 2lbs 5ozs. I wanted to get a Shorai (theyre lighter and cheaper), but on back order EVERYWHERE until May/June. I cant wait that long, and it was only a $30 difference between the Ballistic and the Shorai 14A2.

^ Changed plans. Shorai and most of the distributors say the battery will be in stock ~ May 7th. The Ballistic would take about 3 weeks for me to get. So I decided to go with the Shorai instead. Saved money and a few ounces

So I'm looking for a bike after the wedding in September. If I were to get a sport bike it would be Japanese due to parts availability, reliability, total cost of ownership etc.
This Fat Boy Lo in Demin Black is the type of bike I lust over though. Classic look with a slight modern twist. It's larger than a Sportster which helps since I'm a big guy. I just really dig this bike and I'll probably end up getting one in the near future. What do you guys think?

How much are you looking to get for it? I'm always looking for opportunities to add a new bike if the price is right.
^ Checking around online I'm thinking when I officially list it it will be for $8k.
I'd have to get exact miles... but somewhere around 2200. It has: LeoVince Hi-Mount Exhaust with carbon finishers, Aprilia "Map2" ECU update, Undertail kit, 15t sprocket, Michelin Pilot "Powr" tires, and bar-end sliders. I also added a Puig Windscreen and clear rear turn lenses. Regularly maintained and as you can see in post 1018, even without a garage in the new house I keep it protected

I feel like a newb wanting to start on a Suzuki 250 (http://suzukicycles.com/Product%20Li...11/TU250X.aspx) and you tried to start on a Ducati. But to be honest, that was kinda foolish.
That was your first bike?

its not a hard bike to ride by any means, very controllable. but the power is there. and theres a lot.
still is my bike. well ive kind of grown up around them and have ridden for a long time. but nothing over 650. but the difference between 650 and 1000 is mind boggling.

And this is why I don't feel it's practical for a beginner. Gaining experience with applying throttle while doing everything else that comes with riding a bike is hard enough. Adding a lot of extra power that can get you into situations that you don't yet have experience to deal with is the scary thought. Just my 2cents.
Yeah, that's a lot of bike for a 1st sport bike. I grew up around dirtbikes and my first sportbike was a 2005 600RR. Even that was A LOT of bike and a big jump up from anything I had ever experienced before. Fortunately, I have a pretty level head and was responsible enough not to do anything crazy, but it was still a lot to manage. I can't even imagine dealing with a 1000!
Honestly, the practical part of me says that 1000cc sportbikes should really be left to the track... I say that but I still want one for the road!
