Then again, for the price of what he paid for the V3s he could have gotten V2s which look better than both and provide the ability to get beefier tires.

Yeah AP2V1 is my fav wheels.
Also, that hardtop is great. Always hated really the ragtop in all the convertibles. Is the S2k hardtop aftermarket addition I presume?

The whole point of the S2000 is the convertible though...why cover it up with a top?
Also, congrats on the new smurf car! Enjoy it every chance you get.

i like both v1 and v2, not so much a fan of the v3's although CR's aren't TOO bad

There is an OEM hard top that you can buy for a lot of money. I'm sure there are aftermarket ones as well but not sure on quality or fitment.

Otherwise open top all the way of course! (with the ragtop as backup in case it rains midday)

the hard top is kind of a dumb accessory... Super expensive, poor visibility when it's on, a pain to take off or put back on, etc.
but it looks fuckin' cool when you have it
its one one of those things you can easily live without, but if it comes included with a car you buy, it's cool to have.

youd be wasting 3-5k for the hard top then. It doesn't even insulate all that well, as compared to the rag top. The difference is minimal at best.

Yes, mine is OEM. It's great for pulling off and on in about a minute (if you have a friend help you lift it.) The aftermarket ones have weird attachments that make it a pain in the balls.
And I like my wheels. I think the ap1 v1's look terrible, I'm going to put them on my prelude once I get another two of the front wheels for a squared setup since staggered fwd is preposterous.
Some of you mentioned putting down more power etc with smaller wheels but, honestly, you'd never notice the difference. And you'd be a liar if you said you did. This car isn't really FAST, its' just fun.
To make it fast... well, you need an EMS, big-time,which isn't cheap, on top of all the other not cheap parts needed to increase the output of an engine that was really well done from the factory. I can't justify spending a few grand just to make the crank numbers go to the wheels! I hear the AP2's are easier to get more power out of. So, I'll take my nice-looking, smooth-riding wheels over the ugly older ones and be happy! :ghey:

I like both V1 and V2 and I've had a set on either of my S2000.
Bought my first S2000 with an OEM hard top and what I loved most about it was the $3200 it netted me when I sold it.
It's a convertible for a reason...and my wife was always nervous helping me lift off and in Florida where it rains and people steal, leaving the house with no top was not a fun option (previous owner removed the soft top).

I originally bough the hardtop so I could participate at proper track days and quickly realized what a smart investment the OEM top was! The prices just keep climbing.
Anyway, I just like how it looks with a hard top more than I do when it is topless . I drive the car for a good portion of the year, so I'll take the top of a few times to enjoy the sun, but otherwise I like it more quiet in the cabin and the headroom is nice too. Not that I bought an S2000 for head room.

Well, my experience might have been different if the guy hadn't also removed the soft top. It was hard top or short trip convertible and to be honest, I don't love driving the car with the top ON. It transforms once you remove the top!
But yeah, we live in different places...if this was my only car and I drove it in colder climates I'd have hung onto it.

You know you don't need the hard top for the S to be legal for track days right? The load bearing windshield and roll bars got you covered. Also that top is not structural by any definition of the word.

I beg to differ! The hardtop allows for increased visibility, less road noise, and more head room than having a closed softtop. I can tell you from personal experience.

Head room is one thing... but if you don't fit with the rag top up, how do you fit in the car at all? I'm 6'7" and I still had about 3/8" to spare with the rag top
It might be my size, but my visibility was terrible with the roof on.
I would spring for a hardtop, mainly because of the looks. But theft is a serious issue here. People steal S2000 seats, and if you secure them, thieves may slash your seats out of spite anyway. I share a garage spot, but if I had a second car and a year-round garage spot, I would have been in an S2000.
Driving one with the top off is lots of fun though. I'm pale but I'm pretty sure I'd have quite the tan with a roadster.
