Tightening the throttle cable is the first thing I do with a car.

it affects more than just launches. at WOT and u shift, the RPM will not come down for about 1-2 secs...

Even with the CDV in place it's more common then not for clutch life to be well over 100k miles. Of course you hear of people burning up clutches in 10k miles, but those people exist on every forum and with a car like the S2000 it is tempting to dump the clutch at 5k RPM's, with the CDV in place your greatly shortening the life of your clutch by doing so and aren't launching well, with it not in place your going to launch like a bat out of hell, but are at great risk of having a blown rear dif. I guess I'm more comfortable with a little protection for the rear dif, and a little less performance.

What the gay? I thought only GM would rig their cars with weak differentials and purposely de-engineer them to protect their cheap parts
So let me get this straight.... the CDV (clutch delay valve) I'm guessing somehow slows or reduces the shock of sudden clutch engagement/disengagement whether its hard launches, WOT shifting, etc. Can someone explain it? How easy is it to remove this CDV? And which years have the CDV? Never heard of it before, too lazy to search s2ki.... please don't tell me all S2ks have the CDV
GM did a similar and very, very annoying thing on my car from the factory to protect their weak ass 10-bolt differential. They should beef up the differentials instead of doing lame ass crap like that.... or give us a $2000 voucher for a new diff.
I'm sorry but the S2000 is a car to be flogged and that loves to be flogged. Putting a leash on it like that is lame! I never noticed it, though I've never took an S2000 to redline while in the driver's seat

itimmy: I have already done the top-down-while moving mod, forgot to mention that! That was even quicker than tightening the throttle cable
Regarding the CDV, I am torn as to whether I should take it out or not. It barely interferes except for very hard shifts and launches as mentioned but it is barely noticeable. The car will still chirp 2nd everytime and sometimes 3rd as well. My concern is voiding my CPO warranty by removing the CDV. What do you guys think?

AP2 (04+) have CDV... actually there are many other cars that have CDV as well... including E46 M3. It takes about 40 mins to Remove the CDV.. very easy. There is a DIY page on S2ki.
For everyday driving, your Rear diff should be just fine. but a lot of people take their s2k to the track, so it is recommended to put some reinforcement on the rear diff.

Is it very easy to reinstall in case I need to bring the car in for warranty coverage?

In fact, I think I'll go back now out for a hot second before it gets dark.
I expect speeding tickets soon. This fscker is a bike with four wheels.

Onramps are the shit! I like to see how fast I can get up to before having to hit the brakes and merge on at a few miles over the speed limit

So at 6'3" squeezing into a S2000 has always been a challenge. Mainly the pedals are to close and I have to bend my knee way too much to go from gas to brake pedal. Always made me nervous that it would take me an extra second to slam on the brakes if needed. Not to mention I need to swing the door all the way open in order to climb out of the damn things like it's a race car.
So... any S2000 shoppers/owners take a look at the 350Z as well? Seems like a better fit (literally) for us taller guys. I've never driven or even been a passenger in one before though. There are more used ones for sale and at a comparably cheaper price.
Thoughts?

On a postive note it is more roomy, a fairly good handler despite its heft, and should make for a competent tourer.
Two different cars in my opinion.

to me the 350z didn't feel connected at high speeds. it just didn't inspire much confidence. it also had a distinct ups truck feel that always bothered me. maybe it was because mine was a FMY who knows.

I agree with the others....the 350z is too mainstream. I see lots of them around here. The S, though....other than a meet I went to last week, I've seen only one other on the road. It's a great complement to my equally rare RL.

They popular around here as well. I driven the 350z and its ok, it does everything good but nothing great. Its a good balance of sports car and daily driver. IMO
S2k is just more of a bare bones, handling fun car.

Other then my brothers, I have only seen two other S2k's on the road up here since I got mine in mid-December. There is a beat to crap yellow AP1 working at a construction site down the road from me and I saw a red one a few weeks ago, up here they are fairly uncommon.

As far as rarity....Now that I'm actually looking for them, I really don't see them around here. I saw FOUR C5 and one C6 Corvettes yesterday, on the other hand! Probably a dozen or more Mustangs .
On another subject...
My GOD, people stare at this car when they see it. The last car I owned that got this much attention was my 3G TL, and that was because I bought the first one ever sold in Northeast Ohio....and it's nothing like what I get with the S. I commuted to work in the S today and....wow, the response. I've received no comments so far, but I expect them as the weather warms up.
Top always down!
