RSG Gears Replica Lip

As promised, here is my new Rockstar Garage Gears Replica lip. Fitment is not terrible, but I need to buy a rivet gun to install some additional support brackets on the underside.
I've always loved this front lip for the AP1 and when one came up for sale in my color about 30 mins from my house, I had to jump on it. The guy included the trim molding, although I may try to mount it without the trim, just to see fitment and appearance. Color match is not too bad, but it seems that Silverstone is difficult to match well, particularly on a 17 year old car.

Excuse the bug parts!

I like it! Fitment / color match isn't bad at all.

Looks awesome Dave...MUCH better than the oem, love how it juts out.

Would really set off the look.

Digging the lip. The weatherstrip should hide most of the gaps. Also +1 on the spacers

Haha the thought crossed my mind after feeling uncomfortable on several drives. The fact that I'm a lil chubbier now doesn't help either With that said I'm not sure I have the balls to sell it

Thanks guys!

Spacers, huh? OK...looks like hub size is 64.1 on the AP1. Something like these:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/171386922865

and

https://www.ebay.com/itm/171386922833

?

So, 15mm 70.1 F and 17mm 64.1 R, right? Google search turning up all kinds of numbers for bore sizes.

Dave, that's what I did...I did 15/20 but I rolled rear...supposedly 15/17 and you're golden with stock tire sizes.

Johnny, I just laughed hard AF

Seems suspicious... If Jesus designed the S2000, why would he drive an Accord?

It just hit me that this design is a couple of decades old, yet still looks great! Timeless, one could say.

And then I see the following, and it all makes sense...

According to the Bible we will never know. For he does not speak of his Accord.

Well gents, it has been a fun ride.

I put the S2000 up for sale the other day and have a few people looking at it this weekend.

I bought the car in January of 2014, I've put 45,000 miles on it, never had a single issue with it as a daily or on the track.

I will miss it, but I think it's time to move on.

Picked up a new daily while the S4 becomes the sole fun / weekend car / garage queen.

In San Diego?

Seems to me S2000 + stock S4 would be more fun than a Fit and an S4 that spends more time in the garage.

Best of luck though!

You bring up a good point.

I think as car enthusiasts, we go through phases. I feel I am over the S2000 phase and have been for a while ... I don't hit the track nearly as often and it's not practical for my wife.

To me, it's money just sitting there .. most of which could be put in better places like eliminating nearly all of my debt.

To me, a quick S4 w/ a comfortable daily sounds perfect

You say you don't want just a pile of money sitting around, but sir, the value of s2000s is going up. You own a car that is making you money, long term. No Fit or s4 will ever match that. Poor argument.

though, the wife not liking it is the bigger concern here- and one you need to obviously address. You should have left it at that

The sad thing is- I'm betting you will be back, eventually. Everyone always comes back. And regret leaving. And having to pay way more to be able to come back. Or complaining about not being able to come back due to price point. You're screwed!!

although I will disagree...I came back and with an arguably cleaner car for a ton less money the second time around.

I bought the car for $12,500 ... I am currently selling for $10,000.

It has 167,000 miles, 3 minor fender benders, and I am the 6th owner ... it's not going up in value lol.

Good thing is .. my mom has a mint S2000 sitting in the garage that's driven occasionally.

If I ever need my fix, I'll go an hour north.

I can only speak for the NC miata (3rd gen). I will never own another one. The one I had probably had 15k dumped into it and it performs no better, maybe even be a little slower than my completely stock 370 Nismo. Even then, I didn't think the car was that crazy with all the money in it. I mean, it was fun, but... handling wise, running on $2500 coilovers, my nismo still feels better in the handling department. Plus the chassis is soft as butter- I had 3 or 4 additional chassis braces on the car- well all of that starts adding weight, no matter how you slice it.

The aftermarket support for the car is huge- but it's because it has some serious short comings that enthusiasts want to address. The decade older s2000 had a stiffer chassis than my NC, stock for stock. That's embarrassing. But I guess there is a reason why the s2000 costed nearly twice as much as a miata, back in the day. The miata isn't much of an enthusiast car in stock form. It's for your average 45 year old guy going through a midlife crisis and wanting some fun, but not too much fun. Low power, soft suspension, soft chassis, cheap interior, etc. Plus the exterior looks? It's hard to love. Very feminine. Gets mocked by everyone. Pass.
