I ordered some Potenzas to match the fronts that are still good. I'll probably replace all with something else next time around.

I can check mine when I get home but I'm pretty sure it's painted...

Thanks man! Sad part is that this may take the FoRS off the table now.

Wife wants something "more practical" like a Jeep GC. We'll see.
I had intake, cat, exhaust, and a tune with Greddy eManage Ultimate. It was fantastic. HUGE gains in torque on the low end, making the car a million times better on the street.

AP2 guys are lucky in that regard. As an AP1 owner, I can't just put on a Hondata or e-Manage to help with power gains. The S2000 is so optimized from the factory that the standard aids like exhaust and intake add little power. To gain any real power or low-end torque, I'd need a supercharger and at that point....I already own a car with a supercharger, so why bother?

Although more power would be more fun, I don't think this car "needs" more power in the least.

It's very easy to drive the car to its limit in stock form. And at that limit is where the fun lies.

if the car isn't fast enough, the road isn't curvy enough.

Not true at all, the emanage tune helps a lot for AP1s as well. Nothing like a supercharger, but well worth the money. Cat+tune is really noticeable.

I wish you guys could have driven mine when I had it. Billman said it felt like it had aftermarket gears. And it doesn't spoil the experience at all - just enriches it.

That's probably the route I'd go, if I ever did end up looking for more power. I know Hondata wasn't an option due to the cable throttle...and recall looking into the emanage, but I didn't look very hard. What was involved...not ECU swap, right?

I think I need to really learn the limits of the car and how to control it before I even begin to think about adding any meaningful power. An intake is generally a worthless mod in terms of performance gain unless it's going on an American car. The Coyote V8 can gain 20-30hp by adding an intake.

Actually, Bob is right.. The overall gains you get from ap1 + engine management vs '06+ and up with engine management are staggering. The big thing is the cost to tune. It sucks for '05 and older to tune.

Agree with the last statement. Doesn't spoil the experience. Just enriches it.

Take it to the track. Best place to learn about the car.

i heard FD gear is pretty good.

Not my thing since i already think the cruising RPM on the hwy is too high. But i think it might be helpful for people who go to the mountain and tracks.

I had 4.77s in my ap2. It was nice at the dragon because you could run it in 3rd gear (ap1, I could run parts in 2nd). It definitely was running higher rpm on the highway. We took a stock ap2 and mine with gears on a road trip and I averaged about a gallon more fuel per fill up.

sup.

Oil and diff fluid changes this weekend. Looking at the records, this hasn't been done since November 2013.

Good thing it's easy to work on.

Also, dealerships really enjoy price gouging on S2k oil filters.

make sure the bolts torq specs are correct on the rear diff.

Both of my s2000 were out of specs after a few years and it had the click click noise.

no. oops, not the rear diff.

The rear axle, spindle nut. It needs to be re tightened once every few years to the proper specs.

So the nut that holds the hub on needs to be tightened? Never heard of that before...

It is so common, there is a TSB for it.

They are.

My 05 was trouble free. (brand new)

My 07 was another story. It had every possible issues that you can find on the internet, including a seized engine. (CPO)

just reminded me to not buy used cars, every time i tried to be financially responsible, it always backfires.

Yes really.

But mine was just an isolated case, S2000s are still extremely reliable. Just in my case, everytime i buy a used car CPO or not, it always ended up terribly.

Not with me, I bought it with 29000 miles on it...

I should have been more cautious when i saw it had black spark plug cover from AP1, instead of the gold AP2 color.

But finding a low mileage AP2 with CPO warranty in LBP was hard, so i didn't think too much of it.

When i sold it, it had 68k miles. The dashboard looked like it started falling apart you could see the yellow foam thing between the front windshield and the dashboard.

Yah i have lost total faith in any kind of CPO work. All marketing BS.

the only good thing is it came with 7 years 100k miles powertrain warranty, which in my case saved me ten of thousands of $$

No doubt, man...
Funny, the local Honda dealership had a civic listed as CPO. I could easily tell the back half of the car was repainted...I asked the guy how stringent the CPO rules were and he basically said he disagreed with me about the paint work but would not argue with the customer. I wasn't trying to argue, I was asking him a legitimate question because if they'd CPO something that was smashed 40% from the rear...credibility is out the window, for me.

Sounds like you just needed to buy a car not in California. Every S2000 I looked at in Cali was absolute garbage or wildly overpriced. I looked at a few dozen over a four year period.

On paper it looked good.

2007 LBP with 29000 miles, Honda Certified Pre Owned from a local Honda Dealer, 7 years 100k miles warranty for $24,000 (in 2010). It even had the OEM front lip.

:smh

Non-coastal Oregon/Washington has a ton of rust-free cars. Lots of classics here. You'll even see 70's and 80's Japanese cars without rust.
