Now Complete: Carbon Fiber ZR1 Side Skirts On

MOD EDIT - Keep the BS out of this thread. If anyone decides they'd like to start with the BS, they'll have some time off. Just a pre-warning to all

Ok, now I'm done modding this thing. 4+ yrs later, this is the end result of little things over the years. If I put one more piece of carbon fiber on this thing, I'm going to kick my own a**. What do you guys think?

Looks mean. Only thing that sticks out to me is that your muffler tips could use a little straightening. Maybe it's just the photo.

Thanks Matt. I've been kind of anal about getting the exhausts lined up because i've seen so many modded C6's with crooked exhausts; in person, it's straight. Must be my horrible camera skills...

Marble, definitely needs a good wax job. Waiting for it to warm up a bit....

Doc, that looks great! I love the skirts and they really tie all the ground effects and wheels in nicely. The carbon interior and red stitching really class up a normally dull interior while not being overly done IMO. That being said, still think the spoiler looks lost and out of place but again my opinion. Looks really nice now get some paint correction done, seal the paint up, and let her shine!

Oh, I think these one little, little last piece of carbon would tie things up (don't forget that thing on top of the carbon piece)

Edit - why won't it link

Thanks guys for the feedback. I appreciate it.

rossv1, the more I think about it, the more I see how bad a** it would look with black headlights. The only problem is each* headlight assembly is $1000 from the dealer (so looking at 2K plus the install of taking the bumper off, ect). The ballasts/HIDs are built in to the headlight and only come as a whole unit from GM (son of a guns; another way they get you). One option is to paint the inside, but I'm not ballsy enough to open up the headlight. Another would be to get the acrylic black out that goes on top of the headlight, but I've never been a fan of those.

CL, thanks man. I was going for a complete C6 (interior/exterior/performance/audio) without going overboard. It all came together nicely over the years. A bunch of my buddies agree that my C6 has that classic look that will age well compared to my former C7 stingray. As far as the spoiler, I think it's something that just looks a lot better in person than pics show. And that supercharger......:it keeps calling my name

Thanks again everyone for the feedback.

Looks awesome! I love the carbon ZR1 accents. I always said if I got a Vette it would be one of the first mods.

Looks great on your ride as well. Really ties in the wheels.

Kudos for taking some half-way decent photos! But seriously, not here to bash, I actually think it finally looks complete with all the ground effects tying in nicely. I know carbon fiber is hard to photograph all together to show the weave, so I'm sure it looks 10x better in person. The only thing I'd suggest has already been suggested; blacked out headlights would be the final perfect touch.

I like the headlight idea. I bet the vette lights are a piece of cake to bake and paint to someone who has done it before. There's got to be someone who lives where you do that could do them for you for not too much $$.

The OEM wheels being black still give this plain look, but I think that's all you really need now; some concaves will probably set it off really well, imo.

Thanks man. It was a lot more difficult than expected, but it worked out. Few have been able to replicate a similar one piece box without cutting into the tonneau cover. Glad it worked out. The guy did try to get me for more $$$ at the end, though.

Thanks SB. Judging by the spy shots of the C7 Z06, GM kept a similar design for the side skirts/mudflaps. The only thing I did different is I payed the little extra money to get the mudflaps in Carbon Fiber too (factory doesn't come like that). Good luck.

Thanks JS. Yea matt, there is a DIY on the corvette forums on how to take apart the headlights (to put angel eyes in but same concept). There are companies that will open your headlight and do it for you after looking into this:

http://www.lightwerkz.net/news/2013/...-out-housings/

The more I picture it, the more bad a** I see it will look. Some 427 Vert's had that option, and it looks good. There is still the issue of taking the front bumper off and taking out the headlights. It's not the easiest job in the world, that's for sure. Wish I had more time, but don't right now unfortunately. Maybe in the future....

SuperTrooper169 Kudos for taking some half-way decent photos! But seriously, not here to bash, I actually think it finally looks complete with all the ground effects tying in nicely. I knew I would be crucified if I didn't put up some 1/2 way decent pics. I'm sure if I was a good photographer and the car was detailed, it would look much better. Thanks for the compliments. Car really does look complete now and everything ties/blends in. Looks sweet in person from different angles.

juniorbean Looks awesome! I love the carbon ZR1 accents. I always said if I got a Vette it would be one of the first mods.

Thanks JB, definitely wish I did this sooner. Car really does look killer in person now. Definitely a sweet touch to a car I said I was done playing with. GM did a good job with the design of the ZR1 kit. The ground effects don't look tacky like most traditional body kits and the "Cup" wheel design is also a good effort by GM as well.

Rick, I'm sure a set of sweet forged concave wheels with tires would looks awesome as well, but that big money would be better served on a blower at this point....

Oh yea, Moog of course, thanks.

I agree. Both look good in their unique way. Like I've said before, I think the design of the C6 will stand the test of time and will age well. I love it's clean lines. And, of course, the LSx motor.....

That's cool. You're entitled to your opinion. You are right though, all that matters is if I like it. I will say though, the car looks awesome in person...a bump in from random people since I put them on...

Thanks. haha, you know AZ doesn't like that kind of stuff, esp from me...

On a side note, I bought black-outs for the front and rear side markers a while ago but never put them on. What do you guys think?

Don't know if anyone is bored wouldn't mind p-chopping the car w/ black headlights and/or black front/rear side markers.

Thanks again everyone for the feedback. Appreciate it.

I'll have to laugh at this again. I could not hold myself back from some of those holiday Corvette deals. Just ordered a Ported Throttle Body to finish up on the bolt-ons. I'm a little curious as to how it's going to affect the car. I've read a lot of different things from people claiming whp/wtq increases ~10 based on mods and increased throttle response. I'm hoping the tune Corvettes of Houston put on this thing adjusts to it too.

I paid the core charge so I will try to take some pics when I get the stock TB off to compare them....

Happy holidays everyone and happy new year.
