I got one here in Dallas which was bullshit. I paid it online for 75.
I was already committed to the intersection but oncoming traffic kept blocking me because they were getting on the highway in the opposite direction.

it then turned red and if the oncoming traffic werent a bunch of fucking duechbags and hadnt kept going till it all back up into the intersection I wouldve been able to just go. But I couldnt, because people cant wait five minutes for the light to cycle again. so I sat there in that cluster fuck till someone finally was nice enough to give me room

If the the light was RED and it flashed, then yea you most likely screwed.
Stop running red lights then!
Also I have gone through a few yellow lights that have flashed but never received a ticket.

If you want, you can try timing how long the light stays yellow, and comparing that to the required yellow time. If it's too short, then you can get out of the tickets. I hear about a lot of cities shortening the yellow times to increase profits

God damn red light tickets in SF are 371 dollars. Someone will likely review the picture before sending you a ticket. I've had a few go off but never got the ticket because I was either blocked by a muni bus or stopped just over the line.

Just paid a stop sign (same code, usually) for $145. It was one of those intersections where it used to be a yield, but the county apparently likes money.

that sucks.
i got two separate red light tickets too. each was $75.
there was a website i could go to and saw a video of my car running the reds. there were 3 pics too:
1. my car before the intersection while the light was red
2. my car at the intersection while the light was red
3. my car in the intersection while the light was red
