North American (aka Detroit) International Autoshow 2015 -- who's going?**PICS**

Hey,

After reading about all the world premiere reveals at this year's Detroit (NAIAS) autoshow, I will be going. Plan on going on the last weekend (Jan 24 or 25) ... the opening weekend (Jan 17-18), I have too many personal commitments.

I'm coming in from Windsor (across the river from Detroit) ... still unsure if I'm driving over or taking the bus over.

Hey Derrick. Moved this to Car Talk since, well, it's about cars... plus, there are usually discussions about this show there... so you'll likely get more traction in CT

I'm going on Saturday. Expect a long-ass thread full of pics from me Saturday night. It's going to be NSX and 3G CTS-V all day long from me. And maybe some other stuff.

This is the ONE reason I'm glad Detroit is only a two-hour drive from me.

^ Works for me. Those are two of the cars I'm most interested in as well. And since I won't be going, I'll look forward to your pics

Maybe we can turn this into the "official" 2015 Detroit Auto Show thread so we can keep everything in one place?

Anyone have specific requests for me to take pix of at NAIAS? I'll do the best I can to get to them. I will have my fam with me and so I can't guarantee getting to everything.

Went today as well. Was a lovely show, NSX looked good. Other cars that wow'd me: Ford GT, ATS-V, CTS-V, Volvo XC90 (my god this thing is incredible, the interior fit and finish is heaven), facelifted Mazda 6. Audi Q7 looks less like a station wagon in person.

Mercedes GLE is lame. Volt/Bolt are ho-hum. I predict the Nissan Titan will be a sales flop. Indifferent towards the GS-F, front end looks funky.

BTW, just looking at and reading about the new production cars and concepts I gotta say, we're living in the times of automotive nirvana. Just look at the automobiles that have rolled off this line in the last 10 years. This is what the 60's must have felt like, but today I think it's even better.

Pictures coming hopefully today. I did get one (bad) picture of the new MX-5. Family was begging me to leave by that point so I didn't get a good pic.

Nice pics Bob. Is the ATS a shade bigger than a 3 series? Photos seem to indicate that.

Ford GT

GT crowd was the biggest I saw at the show. This is the crowd from the ground...

...and from above, in the Ford interactive display.

OK, NOW I'm taking a break.

^Was half expecting to find myself in the background of one of your pics. The Ford GT crowd was horrendous when I was looking at it (3PM or so). Had to wait quite a while for an opening to snap some pics. The car definitely stole some thunder from the NSX. The CTS-V had a huge crowd as well.

More like a shade smaller. The 3-series grew a bit this generation.

Ford had the best display this year, and the best ability to keep people there. We were in the Ford display ALONE for an hour.

My son successfully found the accelerator of the Hellcat and was actively trying to shift when I finally had to drag him out of the car for the *long* line of others.

Dodge/SRT will sell every Hellcat they can build. You heard it here first.

If they make a Hellcat JGC, there is a very good chance that it will be my next car. Not joking.

Great pics Bob! Couple of things: That is actually the GT350R you photographed and you have two i8 photos instead of the M235i. I figured you put so much effort into posting your want to fix them. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing Bob. Now about that Hellcat.....I still can't get over Dodge selling a 700+HP car, Cadillac looking great, and Ford putting out better products. Hmm, maybe American is the way to go?
