No one wants a Honda Fit?
It used to be one of the best compact cars. Sales are down seriously.
Is CUV killing it that badly??
"Fit sales fell through the floor in August and September of 2015. August sales of the Fit were cut in half; September Fit volume plunged 81 percent, falling 5,349 units from what was a 41-month high in September 2014 to only 1,279 sales in September 2015."
What are the FIT buyers buying? Versas/Mazda2?

The problems are a) the late summer sales reflect the outgoing model, and b) Honda can't make the new model fast enough. Demand is seriously outstripping supply of the 2016 Fit. You can't even find a 2016 Fit in some combinations in my area. There was a big discussion about it recently on the TOV.

Interesting. Locally there are tons. Autotrader search shows almost 700.
But I didn't dig deep into the combinations....or options.
So what is the current issue that Honda can't supply more?

Me too. I think the second gen was the best, but I don't have a problem with the 3rd gen as people seem to have.
For many of us that have owned wagovan (I had a 86 and a 91), the fit is a spiritual successor of that car. Light, manual trans, honest to goodness basic transportation. Probably one of the best bang for the buck in the 15-16k range for a new car that you can buy and drive 200k miles without a hiccup
I am sure CUV, low price of fuel, mexico built are some contributing factors? Along with supply Bob pointed out

I will gladly take a Fiesta ST over the Fit.

Well, I would get a GT4 over a Fit.
It is targeting the different demographic. No enthusiasts will go for a Fit when there's a FiST in the same segment.
I'm pretty sure less than 5% of the actual Fit buyers get it for the performance.

I drove one late last year while waiting for the TL to cool down (hot start issue).
Didn't drive bad, generous back seat. Not a bad car for the price & peppy with the 6MT. Hated the rev-hang though.

There were dozens of them at the three Honda dealers my sister and I went to while looking for a new car in the last few months. My sister planned to get a Fit all along. The model refresh came out and it shifted her preference to the Civic.
She preferred the outgoing '15 Civic to the redesigned '16 though... I tried convincing her to wait.

I liked the last gen much better than the current. I rode in a prior gen Fit in a Lyft to the airport. It was so roomy, and pretty smooth considering the size, I would have considered it, especially living in downtown SF. The new one doesn't hit me the same way.

I think the HRV happened to the Fit.

I like the 3G Fit. I think Honda did good with the design.

Is 3G the latest generation? I don't know, I loved 1G and liked 2G.

Cheap gas and huge discounts on '15 Civics are big factors.

my friend has one a 2014 model , it makes my 2003 legacy look like the Queen Mary in terms of size and that is a small car to begin with..
Engine bay on those is fairly large compared to the motor so working on them is fairly easy for doing basic stuff

I have a 2007 I took in on trade...has 140k miles, drives like new. Always loved these things! Wheel covers were hideous, though, so I bought a set of wheels for it, changed the brakes and oil, and good to go! We use it as an extra car at work...Great for carrying stuff too, considering how small on the outside and how big on the inside!

I thought it was an econo car that had lots of space for hipsters?
my coworker had one, she drove crazy, as in typical woman driver...but never did I once think, wow she's zippin in and out of traffic with ease...it was more like...."OH MY GAWD, WHERE ARE THE OH CHIT HANDLES?"

Typical woman drivers stay in 1 lane and block traffic. takes 25 secs to change lane and sit dangerously close to the steering wheel.

is the fiesta the same size as the fit? It looks to me that the fit is bigger on the inside. Right now I am seriously cross shopping the GTI, fit, and fiesta/focus

Fiesta is supposed to be one of the best handling/fun FWD hatch out there... according to TG.

^ I think the Fit is likely a lot larger inside than the Fiesta. I had a Fiesta hatch as a rental earlier this year & couldn't imagine spending time in the back seat. The Fit on the other hand, I had a bit of extra space in the back seat & I'm 6'0" 150lbs.
I was really surprised how big the Fit is inside, considering how small it looks from the outside.

really I have not seen a real hatch that does not have a reasonable back seat yet.

Which is pathetic because it sacrifices a great deal of the Fit's practicality for a tall driving position. I can't wait for this crossover fad to fade away...those things will be toxic on used car lots in ten years or so.
