Foglights are worse than useless. In 36 years of driving I can't ever remember a time I actually needed them. Yet just about every local around here who has fog lights on their car has them on anytime their lights are on. Worse yet there are those that want the brightest and bluest fog lights and headlights they can find. Unlike head lights, fog lights are aimed pretty parallel to the road so for on-coming drivers (when there is no fog) just get fog lights right in their eyes. So for me I'm glad fog lights aren't standard on cars. When I see someone with fogs coming at me, I flash my brights at them. Maybe they will figure it out someday.

Flashing oncoming traffic is illegal here.
Most all states that specify flashing as a warning verse flashing oncoming traffic state that the latter is illegal. Very few states allow flashing in any circumstance. FloriDUH being one of the few.
Most that allow it will allow it as a form of "warning." But none will allow it as a form of "aggressive driving". Which is exactly what I was responding to. Someone who flashes people out of anger to "make a point."
Any cop in any state would pull you over for driving aggressively. Flashing your headlights, if deemed aggressive, is reason to pull anyone over in any state.
This goes for honking as well. I specifically remember in drivers ed being told honking and flashing your lights can get you pulled over if deemed aggressive.
Like one poster already said, fog lights should be close to the ground and light up the area of he road right in front AND cast a wide beam out to the sides. This is to light up more of the side of road to see the curbs and lines, poles, etc. in heavy fog.
But another thing they are good for is to act as cornering lights due to their wide beam, helps when driving on some twisties at night.
And having another set of lights on just helps to make your car more noticeable to other drivers who are probably texting or screwing with their mobile device rather than paying attention to the road.
Tribe, you dummy, Ferrari, Pagani, Koenigsegg, Porsche and McLaren are NOT luxury brands because they do not have same utlra performance in rain, snow and up and down street of SF like Acura NSX.
