Nissan sell more than Honda

Nissan sold more vehicles than Honda in Japan this past year. They are once again sitting pretty at number 2 spot.
Very disappointing for Honda to say the least.here's the link:

Probably because of their trucks, the Xterra and Frontier pickup.

I believe it. Like tel said... nissan has trucks.

And plus... to be completely honest... I dont know who or why in the world someone would be a Honda over a Nissan.

I think the Accord is so boring. If I was buying that class of car I dont think anything can touch the Maxima.

The new Civic is crap too.

Apart from the S2k... I wouldnt buy anything in the Honda line right now.

Even though I'm a CL owner, I'm not surprised, I think Nissan makes better cars overall.

yeah but I think thats just a matter of personal choice.and most people would buy Accord over Maxima.that's why Accord is one of the best sellers.
Anyway I hope Honda captures that number 2 spot in 2001.

Well, I bought my 95 Maxima 2 years old, put about 60K on mine in almost three years, and I never had a problem with it. I would agree, in that class the accord just doesn't do for me what the maxima did.

Yeah, the accord is very plane jane and boring compared to the Maxima. I can tell you for sure that the number one riceboy sedan in my town is the Accord DX/LX 4 cylinder. One thing I really dislike about hondas is that the lower end models have black trim all over the place, the door handles the little strip that goes across the doors. I think it's just hideous. I give credit where credit is due however, the only Accord I ever liked is the New accord coupe V-6. Then again it looks pretty much like the CL's little brother.

ill agree with you there but its the closest apples to apples...the accord v-6 ex trim coupe or sedan is such a different car than the four cylinders...thats what i think when you say accord but others may have the four s in mind then i could see the dissapointment

I don't think they're having trouble competeing as it is. The rumor was the the Skyline was going to come over and an infiniti model the R34 or something like that.

Yeah, get the four's & sedans out of my head and I'm thinking of a nice Accord coupe. That is a good looking car.

Agreed Accord is a boring car but I think Accord was not made to enthrall people. It's basic purpose is to act as a reliable "FAMILY" car and I think Accord hits it's mark well.
See Honda is selling so many Accords they must be doing something right. But on the other hand I haven't seen many Maxima owners not satisfied with their car either.
Anyway if I were given a choice b/w Accord and Maxima I would happpily choose Accord.
One more question:
Does anyone here have any idea why they don't import Accord type-r in the U.S?

that article is misleading...it pertains to "output", not vehicles sold (nowhere in the article does it say "sold").

check out http://competitionpress.com/news/car...nb63098nc92269

honda is #2 in vehicles sold after #1 toyota; nissan is #3 in vehicles sold.

I think Maxima is trying to distance itself from cars like the Camry and the Accord, and will try to have the Altima compete against those two particular sedans. How is an Accord Type R different from a regular Accord? The Maxima will soon have 260 hp and the Altima will soon become available with a V6 option to compete with the Camry and Accord.

Honda needs to provide a better car for
the money. Nissan offers cheeper cars
with comparable features to Honda. My
ex-girlfriend's parents bought a nice
Nissan Sentra real cheep (over a Civic).
They ended up saving thousands on a car that
has more features than the Civic. Go figure ...

Dang, I've been reading all these posts and
now my grande white chocolate mocha w/ shot
of mint is cold! No! This can't be!

Ack, back to work ;P

honda does make better cars that offer more for the money...except here they are called acuras.

what do you think the situation looks like in japan with honda having its lineup as well as the acura lineup combined in one (all called hondas).

again, that article pertains to OUTPUT, not vehicles SOLD. Honda is 2nd to Toyota in vehicles SOLD.

Not counting fleet sales (taxis, rentals, etc), Honda is the best seller! And, of course, the best sellers are usually the most stolen.

I have owned both a nissan and a honda.. My 98 honda accord coupe R.I.P. was a sweet looking car, which was why i bought it. Beautiful from every angle, however when you take a closer look at the components and the bangforthebuck factor it loses outright to my maxima. After i crashed my accord, partially due to being underpowered and having crappy suspension/tires..i got my maxima, for 24000, 3000 less than i paid for my accord out the door, i got the GLE, leather, 7 speaker bose audio system, sunroof, the works. May not look as slick but i can sure tell the difference on the road. 222 horse and maaaad torque =).i eat hondas for snacks now... although i think i'd still stay clear of the CL-S
