Nissan does a bit of trolling when Ferrari gets upset over custom 458
Thoughts?
Im in no way agreeing with what he did to the car's appearance..
I just wanted to know how this kind of thing works. Does Ferrari make you sign a waiver to keep you from modifying the car?
I feel like this should fall into the Eff you category when it comes to making changes to your car you paid hundreds of thousands for.
in either light, what Nissan did was pretty funny. even if it was a photoshop.

You know, some car companies take themselves so seriously that they forget speed and insane horsepower are supposed to be fun. Not Nissan! After Ferrari's well-publicized freakout over Deadmau5's Nyan Cat 458 Italia, Nissan made a GT-R with the wrap so he has something to replace it with..
The backstory, in case you're curious: Canadian electronic artist Deadmau5 wrapped a 458 Italia in a ridiculous Nyan Cat theme (complete with license plate EPICLULZ) for the Gumball 3000 rally. He even took Toronto mayor Rob Ford for a ride in it and they hung out like a couple of dudes. P
Then the fun police at Ferrari sent him a cease-and-desist letter over the custom emblems, which said "Purrari." Deadmau5 has since unwrapped it because he reportedly plans to sell the car and replace it with a McLaren 650S Spider. P
I think he should go with this instead.
It's even got a little badge below the GT-R logo with the word "Spec" and Deadmau5's logo. P
Can I just say that this is maybe the greatest GT-R in the history of GT-Rs? I'd love to see that wrap on an R34 Skyline too, just for more EPICLULZ. Hell, I hope it becomes a famous color scheme, like the Gulf livery. P
At any rate, my hat is off to Nissan for having a sense of humor about what they do. I wonder which Nyan Cat car would come out on top in a drag race?P

Curious on the legal standpoint of the situation.

According to what I've read, the issue isn't the wrap. It's the deletion/alteration of the Ferrari badges. Plus, this isn't as big deal to Ferrari as the media wants people to think.

Is this car owned by the DJ or not?
Sounds like he plans on selling it so I assume it is his. Id tell Ferrari to fuck off and they can buy the car back with a bloated price tag if they want it back... plus they'll have to take the sick wrap off themselves... he should keep the badges though for his next Purrari.
As for the media making more out of this than there is.... Ferrari did ask him to "cease and desist" so clearly there is fact in the story. As well, A company like Nissan is getting involved, Nissan isnt the Media. Im sure the owner of Nissan knows more of the story than any of us do.

According the DJ (I hate typing his name... what is it now D34DM0U53 now?) it was the emblems AND custom floor mats that really upset them. I want to see those mats! hahaha.

In other news, Toyota has now sent out approximately 200,000 cease and desist orders to owners of their trucks from the 80's and 90's who changed Toyota's brand name to just "YO"

Thats a little different. When you agree to live in a community with an HOA you are signing to and agreeing to their by laws.
I don't think you sign anything when you buy a car saying you agree to not to modify it in anyway...though Ferrari may now be changing this...
