How do you think I felt when I posted on May the second that my anthricite CLS6 was 11 months old and still did not have as much as one door bang, scratch or paint chip. I jinxed myself, the next day some old broad inflicted more than $4,000 of damage to half of the drivers side of the car. Sorry Nicky, not trying to jack your thread here.
But here is something I bet you don't know, and it suprised me too!
We own a company called ITW BGK, and they make electric infrared paint curing equipment. Think of these guys as making big and powerful 480 volt toasters for spot curing paint, and they supply the automakers with complete, turnkey curing systems.
Now, get this: as far as the big three goes in the US, and I am talking domestics here, the AVERAGE car made here get 5 to 7 paint touchups/and repairs BEFORE they leave the factory!
Paint damage is a fact of life. Just make them fix it nicky. No sense blowing a gasket over this.
Put yourself in my shoes. I checked on my car today. Drivers rear window was out. Rear window was out. And a guy was cutting off everything behind the door with a grinder. It wasn't pretty.

I called them today...4:00pm and they said it looks PERFECT. They didn't have to paint the whole door because all of the chips were on one plane....so the door was not taken off. AND....they also said if I didn't like it for some strange reason...for $1000 more I can get into the 04 Silver Coupe...so either way....Nicky is getting a new 390hp Cobra!

MAn Chap...you're right on. After all of the searching....the Coupe does 12.8s all day long...and the Verts go HIGH 12.90s to 13.10s. Its a little difference...but I'm not gonna be at the track with this thing.......OK maybe once or twice

For as much as I appreciate the price to performance ratio of the Cobra (and I congratulate you Nicky -- I think it will work out very well for you), I just could never get over the console and some other interior components. I don't know if I would do it.
From what I can remember of my college buddy's Mustang, that interior design has not changed for some 10-odd years. Too dated and plain for me, so much so that I don't think I could stand it if I had to drive it everyday.
Still, gotta love that new car smell....
The seats look great, though. And, again, who can argue with the performance at such a price? To tell you the truth, since I found this thread, I've been checking out the web site a lot....

What's the MSRP difference between the '03 vert and the '04 coupe?
5K???
So you can get a brand new '04 coupe for $1000 more than what you could get the '03 for?
I'd think you could do better on the vert if that's the case. $1000 isn't a whole hell of a lot, especially in the car business...
Not trying to sway the judgement, but the better deal sounds like the '04, as the '03 is one model year old, and even though it stickers higher, don't kid yourself that it hasn't depreciated like a mother humper since it has sat there...
I dunno... Either way, you can't go wrong, but I'd work them more on the vert if that's what you want.
Just my $0.02.

I say get the vert, silver Cobra's are a dime a dozen around here. I like the looks of the coupe better than the vert with the top up, but the vert looks so badass with the top down and nothing is like crusing in a convertible. Convertibles also retain their value better.

Well, it's more HP than that. But not everyone is at the track every weekend beating on their car. Some people buy them to drive em...
Why not get the vert if you want something to drive and enjoy? Granted the cars frame will twist more because of the soft top making it lose some HP. It's worth it if you want to go out and enjoy the outdoors and haul ass.
To buy the hardtop to take it to the track once a year is kinda pointless if you ask me....

I just finished looking it over for the last 2 hours...including getting that fucking dealer sticker off of the back of the car!!!! I'm soooooo happy....and nervous as hell at the same time. I have never had this feeling...... I'm looking forward to the nice long weekend with it. I have a 1/2 day on friday....then the 3 day weekend.
I went to the dealer after work and working out....the owner comes up to me and says what do ya think??? After we talked...he decided for me that I couldn't leave UNLESS it was in the Cobra So I went and got my cash and by the time I got back...I signed like 6 things....and I was on my way.
Review of the car for the first 35 miles:
Its incredibly quiet with the top up.
I need a cat back system.
I've been getting a lot of looks....even at dusk and night!
The son of a bitch wants to go, I took it to 5000 rpms and almost shit myself!
When I pulled away, I saw the CL sitting outside....I know I'm gonna miss it a little! But once I left the gas station with the owner of the dealership for my first fill up....."what cl"! I would like to try and buy a used CL next year and have the best of both worlds....but for these next 6 months....WOOT WOOT!!! The only thing I need is my owners manual....which they can't find.
