New Wheels on the M6

I've been needing tires on the 87 M6 for quite some time. The original piece of shit Michelin TRX tires run about 500 bucks each. Tire rack finally got the wheels I've wanted back in stock so I decided to get them, and tires, for about half the price the original tires would have cost.

Original:

Now:

After mounting them I realized I could have gone with a much wider tire in the back. Next time...

VERY nice upgrade. Curious how those affect ride quality, a bunch or just a little?

Not a fan of black rims either. But, I really liked the style and they didn't come in chrome (which I don't like either, but the stock rims look good.)

Ride quality is better - I think mainly because the old tires were shot.

The new rims look sweet...your BMW reminds me of the movie "Fracture".... I was on lock with those TRX tires back in the 80's with my old mustang gt... and it was a grip then.... I changed the wheels too...

^ - I don't know. I'd like too because I don't like all that space.

I'm still actively looking for used OEM tires so slap on the rims just so I can still keep that look and drive on them when I want to.

Nice. I really like the black/polished lip combo on wheels, and it matches the M6 perfectly.

Is the pinstriping in //M colors? Only that would to some degree those stripes' existance on your paint imo.

Like the new wheels better by the way. Slam and window tinting would be nice, hehe.

Naw, TRX tires are a expensive and are shit.

Although BBS makes few wheel choices that look similar that would have looks sick, maybe even in gold.

I like the wheel choice thats on there now. Looks clean.

Someday... I will get a mint E24.

Is that your daily? Somebody was selling a nice one on CL not too long ago. Said only thing wrong was the a/c was busted.

Oh, and nice rims. I have the same ones on my Passat wagon in machined finish.

I dont get it - those rims only have 1 brand/model of tires available?

They are metric, dont even think they produce those sizes anymore.

Make sure you keep the OG's... they look more classic and give it the nice OEM look.

OG's > New Rims

Don't like them or hardly any otehr balck wheels for that matter.

You should have gone with some newer BMW wheels or silver TSW's. Personally I love the look of stock wheels on different models of cars. Did it with my current CL-S with 05 TL rims. Was also going to do it with my maxima with 350z 6-spoke 18" rims

I must be a retard.

Why would it matter that the rims are metric? If theyre a normal width, then just get new tires put on. Why would you need to buy new rims to get new tires?

I dont mean to beat a dead horse, Im just apparently being dense.

I like those rims, I just liked the older ones more. In fact, they were on the alltrac when I bought it.

^ - They are metric in diameter. Width isn't a problem.

I would have loved to go with some bbs wheels, but not on my budget. I really like the older BMW wheel models but they are not cheap, espeically if you find some in good condition.

Still not sure if I like the black, but I do know they look better than the silver or gunmetal finish. These wheels/tires were a short term solution to an ongoing search for the perfect look.
